Chewy is hiring a Software Development Manager for our Supply Chain IT Team in Boston, MA or Plantation, FL. This position will have exposure across the entire supply chain enterprise, influencing the vision and implementation of architecture, design, and features that directly impact the company's bottom line. As part of a dynamic team, this role offers a tremendous opportunity for professional growth in the leading online pet retailer in the US. This role will have immense visibility in Chewy's technology & business organizations.

What You'll Do:

  • Technical Leadership and Architectural Guidance:
    • Lead by example, demonstrating a deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
    • Provide architectural guidance and design oversight, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
    • Foster a culture of technical excellence within the team, encouraging innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Establish and enforce coding standards, code review processes, and quality assurance practices.
  • Conduct regular code reviews, providing constructive feedback to team members to improve code quality, readability, and maintainability.
  • Implement automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous integration and delivery of high-quality software.
  • AWS Expertise and Cloud Architecture:
    • Utilize your expertise in AWS services to architect and implement scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
    • Design and deploy cloud-native applications leveraging services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, and ECS/EKS.
    • Implement best security, compliance, and performance optimization practices in AWS environments.
  • Project Planning and Execution:
    • Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to manage backlog, prioritize features, and establish realistic timelines.
    • Drive project execution, identifying key milestones, dependencies, and resourcing, monitoring progress, addressing impediments, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Team Development and Mentorship:
    • Manage a team of software engineers responsible for building Chewy’s Supply Chain initiative. Mentor and coach team members, guiding technical skills development, career growth, and professional excellence.
    • Identify team training opportunities and skill gaps, implementing initiatives to enhance technical capabilities and expertise.
    • Foster a supportive and inclusive team culture that values diversity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Recruit and hire new engineers and mentor the growth of the existing team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, quality assurance, and operations, to align priorities and deliver integrated solutions.
    • Facilitate communication and collaboration between teams, resolving conflicts and fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
  • What You'll Need:

    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, or a similar math or engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience
    • 5-10 years of experience in Software Development as a software / data engineer
    • Excellent ability to manage teams and lead from the front
    • Strong technical skills in programming languages like Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#.
    • Extensive experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and proficiency in cloud architecture design and implementation. Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB
    • Solid understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and tools (e.g., JIRA, Git)
    • Demonstrated history of implementing and managing significant software development projects (data engineering/web application development/test automation/release engineering domains)
    • Solid fundamental background in multiple testing disciplines (e.g., APIs, Functional UI testing, Performance testing, data-oriented systems testing, distributed systems, etc.).
    • Position may require travel
