Chewy's content team is seeking an experienced Sr. SEO Manager to help build the most trusted and comprehensive pet-focused library on the internet. Your primary responsibility is to lead SEO strategies aligned with business goals, emphasizing efficient traffic acquisition and engagement with pet parents. Collaborate closely with the editorial team and Chewy SEO partners to continuously improve strategies based on industry trends, algorithm updates, and performance metrics. This involves keyword research, addressing technical SEO issues, conducting off-page optimizations, and enhancing content for better search visibility. Coordinate with paid search to align SEO strategies with pay-per-click campaigns. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of SEO practices, experience in content and publishing, and strong analytical, project management, and communication skills. We're seeking a highly motivated self-starter with a passion for achieving customer and business results.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own Content SEO Strategy: Develop and implement scalable SEO strategies aligned with business goals; Continuously optimize strategies based on industry trends, algorithm updates, and performance metrics.
  • Keyword Research and Guidance: Conduct thorough keyword research and collaborate with the editorial team to outline and prioritize opportunities, as well as to integrate targeted keywords effectively.
  • Test Content Layouts and Merchandising: Develop SEO A/B tests and other test strategies to ensure positive impact on traffic, revenue, and other KPIs.
  • Technical SEO Oversight: Address technical SEO issues, stay informed about the latest developments in technical SEO, and implement best practices.
  • Optimization of Website Content and Paid Search: Optimize website content, landing pages, and copy for improved search engine visibility; Work with the paid search team to align SEO strategies with paid campaigns.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report on key SEO metrics, traffic, rankings, and other KPIs; use data insights to refine SEO strategies.
  • Collaborate with Product team: work with Product to execute roadmap initiatives to safeguard and grow organic traffic.
  • Stay Informed of SEO Trends: Keep up to date on industry developments; implement innovative approaches to stay ahead of the competition and evolve with the changing organic search landscape.

What You’ll Need:

  • 8+ years of SEO work experience with an industry-leading website and experience in the publishing/editorial space
  • Deep understanding of how search engines crawl, render, index, and rank web pages
  • Knowledge of XML, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS as they relate to SEO
  • Experience with WordPress and Drupal preferred
  • Experience with SEO reporting and content analytics
  • Familiarity with relevant tools (e.g. SEOClarity, Botify, SEMRush, Screaming Frog, Segment) and web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Analytical mindset and comfort working with large and complex data sets and presenting findings to senior leadership in a concise and actionable manner
  • BSc/BA in Marketing, Business or related field or equivalent experience
