Position Summary
Under limited supervision, the Scholarship Program Specialist is responsible for processing applications for individuals who are participants in an ongoing scholarship and/or pay incentive program. The Scholarship Program Specialist serves as the primary contact for current and prospective students in various programs and serves as a resource for information and manages the day-to-day administrative operations of the program, including coaching and counseling students, maintaining comprehensive records systems, and helping monitor and process financial awards.

- Provides for the day-to-day activities related to scholarship and pay incentive program including, but not limited to: maintenance of program records and databases, completing online forms, providing technical support and guidance, and developing tracking methods to track applicant status.
- Performs a high level of customer contact related to applications, documentation, and program information and services.
- Initiates outbound and handles inbound calls, chats, emails, Instant Messaging, MS SharePoint, and other communication tools.
- Advises and counsels assigned students in understanding the expectations of the program and overcoming obstacles to ensure success.
- Receives, screens, researches, evaluates, and analyzes employment verification, degree plans, transcripts, class schedules, and other documents to determine program eligibility and awards.
- Assists, monitors, and processes financial awards.
- Counsels students and uses professional judgment to award maximum aid to students with unusual circumstances.
- Maintains current knowledge of program requirements and provides information on policies, procedures, and activities, including, but not limited to: financial aid, academic regulations, transfer processes, enrollment, registration, and other student services and academic services.
- Provides registration, enrollment, and program information for current and prospective students and manages the day-to-day administrative operations of the program.
- Advises students on how best to balance work and school to be successful.
- Conducts recruitment and outreach support such as responding to requests for information, contacting current and prospective applicants, and conducting presentations.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with internal and external constituencies across the State of New Mexico.
- Assists with analysis of programs and in the data collection for periodic and annual reports.
- Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Minimum Qualifcations:
- Associates Degree and two (2) years of related experience.
Preferences:
- Bilingual (Spanish & English) preferred
- Prior experience providing customer service to diverse clients
- Prior experience with multiple technology platforms
- Prior experience with outreach/public-speaking
- Prior experience working with multi-faceted programs
Work location is CNM Ingenuity Workforce Training Center.
Typical work schedule is M-F from 8-5, however, weekends and evening work may occasionally be required.
