What you will be doing

As HS&E Manager you will hold a HS&E leadership role, assuming accountability for overseeing and advancing Health, Safety, and Environmental Management initiatives within MWI Animal Health.

The roles coverage extends to the breadth of the MWI Animal Health business and includes regular travel.

As a primary point of contact for HS&E matters, you will demonstrate comprehensive expertise in HS&E practices to ensure compliance with relevant laws and company standards. In addition, you will cultivate a safety and sustainability culture by actively engaging key stakeholders. By enhancing the management system, your contributions will play an instrumental role in executing strategic plans and fostering continuous improvement.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exercise effective HS&E leadership and provide clear direction within MWI Animal Health.
  • Foster and promote a robust safety and sustainable culture through comprehensive guidance and education initiatives.
  • Support the execution of health, safety & environmental strategies and cascade of associated activity throughout the UK business hierarchy.
  • Provides consultation on Health, safety & Environmental legislation and standards.
  • Develop, implement, and continually improve health, safety & environmental policies, procedures, and programs tailored to MWI's specific needs.
  • Ensuring consistent and accurate KPI / metric reporting across the UK business.
  • Inspire, mentor, coach and support the UK business to deliver HS&E requirements through compliance, culture and organisation control.
  • Provide guidance for functional gap assessments and support the implementation of functional improvement plans.
  • Ownership of role associated HS&E communication.
  • Strong stakeholder management enabling HS&E education, engagement and empowerment.
  • Coordinate and deliver engaging training sessions on various aspects of health, safety & environment, ensuring that all team members and managers possess the requisite knowledge to work safely.
  • Take charge of leading thorough incident investigations, identifying root causes, and devising proactive strategies to prevent recurrence.
  • Proactively engage in compliance monitoring throughout MWI Animal Health by providing support to business units, developing compliance programs, conducting meticulous audits, and carrying out inspections.

  • Support, engage and ensure you are compliant with the companies Environment, Health and Safety policies and procedures.

  • Understand the Quality Regulatory framework and the impact of this for their specific business unit.
  • Assure compliance with all organisation policies and procedures.
  • Establish and implement a continuous improvement plan.

Experience, skills and knowledge requirements:

  • Self-driven and energetic HS&E professional, with experience in leading/developing HS&E management systems and implementing strategies.
  • You will be engaging and have the ability to influence stakeholders, positively developing our safety and sustainable culture.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information to understandable information.

You will hold as a minimum:

  • Level 3 H&S qualification e.g. NEBOSH National General Certificate
  • Foundation Environmental Management qualification or above e.g. IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management/NEBOSH Environmental

Experience of the following would be preferred:

  • Auditing/inspection
  • Incident Management
  • Risk Assessment
  • HS&E Environmental Management systems
  • Train the trainer; Manual handling, Chemical spill response, Fire Safety
  • Experience in COSHH assessment and practical application
