What you will be doing

As an Associate Director, Business Development for FormularyDecisions you will be responsible for generating new business leads and bringing new business through the opportunity lifecycle. You will be part of a dynamic and flexible team that interacts cross-functionally across multiple sales teams and functions within Cencora. You have broader Pharma or health care experience, coupled with the ability to understand the key drivers that lead to purchasing decisions, and to position FormularyDecisions appropriately in order to grow our business. You will have experience in market access, payer marketing, or health economics to best understand the needs of our customers.

This role sits in the Commercialization Strategy & Access Solutions team, within Global Consulting Services and is a US Remote based role.

As a credible candidate, you are a big picture thinker who understands how to map and test a strategy; and with flexible thinking, you can recalibrate your strategy as you deepen your understanding of the opportunities. This role is cross-functional and requires the individual to have both a scientific and business background, the ability to demonstrate strong executive presence skills with pharma and biotech C-suite and key decision makers and requires understanding the interrelationship between groups with the ability to influence and work across functional boundaries. You will be a self-starter and be able to carve your own path in generating new opportunities and cultivating relationships.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Associate Director is responsible for engaging with both external customers to drive revenue growth for our FormularyDecisions subscription business to meet our annual targets. This includes the following key duties:
  • Be our external product expert with a strong understanding of our products or services as well as business position and competition to keep our business competitive
  • Think strategically on ways to source and craft solutions for prospective clients
  • Maintain current client relationships and develop a strong pipeline of potential clients, contacting potential clients to establish a business relationship and meet with them
  • Lead sales process from opportunity all the way through to a successful close
  • Direct customer engagement in collaboration with Cencora consultants to explore customer needs for our broader offerings
  • Research the latest in the business industry and create new opportunities to expand the business
  • Provide support and customer feedback on our subscriptions and current / future needs.
  • Support Customer Engagement Team with current subscribers to drive renewals
  • Attend trade shows, networking opportunities and join networking groups

What your background should look like

Experience and Education requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Healthcare, pharmaceutical, insurance or biotechnology industry;
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in sales, business development and/or marketing combined with and/or account management
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in healthcare or business-related area is minimum educational requirement. MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Preferred experience and background in pharmaceutical market access and the US health care environment (managed care process for reimbursement, product launches, health economics and outcomes research, etc.
  • Proven success in business development role with extensive track record in executing to grow overall revenues and customer/user base
  • Familiar with using information portals (healthcare or other industries) and CRMs (Salesforce, etc.)
  • Familiar with SaaS (software as a service) platforms and subscription business models

Skills and Knowledge requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism;
  • Self-starter and proactive style of working cross-functionally
  • Creative and articulate with excellent communication and presentation skills with various stakeholders;
  • Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office software which includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
