The Fixed Income Group is seeking a bond trader who will be responsible for transacting corporate bonds for the American Funds. The trader will work with 4 other investment grade bond traders as well as the broader credit team, located in Los Angeles and New York. Capital Fixed Income Investors (CFII) has managed fixed-income strategies since 1973 and has $500bn in assets under management. We have an experienced team of 36 traders in Los Angeles, London, Singapore and New York. This position will be based in Los Angeles or New York.

As a Fixed Income Trader, you will contribute to the team in the following ways:

  • Execute trades and identify trading strategies/investment opportunities in the investment grade corporate bond market
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships, with investment group colleagues and sell side counterparties
  • Collaborate with Capital's investment professionals worldwide to discuss market trends and investment strategies
  • Liaise with Investment Operations and other fixed income business units to maintain order flow integrity, monitor risk and improve communication
  • Perform additional responsibilities and undertake special projects as assigned

  • You have 4-7 years of Fixed Income Trading experience, with a strong focus on Credit
  • You are a self-starter and team player with excellent communication skills
  • You are tech-savvy, with ability to adopt new technology and champion use of new tools and systems
  • You are able to work calmly, flexibly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • You have strong relationship building and negotiation skills

New York Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000

Los Angeles Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
