The Director, Global Business Services Technology is responsible for directing application delivery services for Capital Group's Global Finance, Legal, Risk Management, and Office Services business functions. The Director is responsible for developing the Technology strategy and providing solutions that enable our business to achieve our long-term strategy, growth, and key business outcomes. This role requires transformational leadership, demonstrating clarity and authenticity by seeing the vision and possibilities, making a personal commitment, and engaging and inspiring the organization to achieve meaningful results.

Shapes Strategy

  • Direct, manage, and deliver large, complex, mission-critical application development projects.
  • Identify the drivers, strategies, and needs of clients' technology operations and lead internal changes to support those operations.
  • Know the application portfolio, its overall technical and functional health, how it will support business needs, and its impact on the overall environment from a support and technology perspective.
  • Provide technology leadership within the business unit, developing and implementing 5+ year technology roadmaps.
  • Manage relationships with clients, interface, and maintain communication with Technology and business management. Monitor business and technology developments and provide on-time response and support.
  • Ensure that Global Technology-Business engagement is a priority. Support Technology shared strategic goals and educate business partners and management teams on their importance.

Deliver Results

  • Develop a sustainable development and support model to meet key project commitments while gaining efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Effectively integrate across all functions to support the successful execution of the Service Delivery Model.
  • Facilitate smooth workflow within the department, ensuring high standards and quality of technical work. Direct reviews of tools and technologies for improving performance and reducing costs.
  • Understand the risk profile of the area and ensure that significant risks are mitigated.
  • Define vision for development strategies and a clear view of how Capital's development strategies fit together and create business value.
  • Define and implement clear deliverables and processes.

Build Talent & Teams

  • Build and support strong teams.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance technology capabilities (i.e., Gen AI, etc.).
  • Stay informed about development trends, directions, and uses across Capital. Utilize knowledge to apply the most current and appropriate technologies to support the business and anticipate and seize new opportunities.
  • Stay current with industry technology changes and become an expert in external solutions on the market for functional areas.
  • Build engagement and a sense of belonging within and outside the immediate team, enabling the broader function to operate as one team in supporting the firm's overall mission.
  • Set and define a clear strategy and help teams to understand best practices.
  • Be interested and open-minded as it pertains to new ideas, open to constructive challenges and course correction when required.

  • Provide a global strategic context for associates when sharing information and making decisions.

  • You have a Bachelor's degree and ideally a Master's degree.
  • You have 12+ years of progressive experience in IT leadership, including managing teams and leaders.
  • You have strong strategic thinking and stakeholder communication skills.
  • You have proven experience in software, solutions, or data engineering.
  • You have a deep understanding of modern engineering practices (Agile, CI/CD, DevOps).
  • You have experience with cloud and data platforms (AWS, Azure, Python, Airflow, Databricks, APIs).
  • You have strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • You have strong business acumen and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • You have a global mindset with the ability to support a diverse, international operating model.
  • You have knowledge of emerging technologies and trends (e.g., Gen AI, Quant).

Southern California Base Salary Range: $254,648-$432,902

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
