Job Summary

The Business Operations Catalyst team is an internal sprint team driving special projects for the executive team, focusing on solving complex problems to achieve specific goals.

Typically, the Catalyst team leads initiatives lasting 3-6 months, aiming to swiftly mobilize cross-functional teams to make decisions and develop actionable plans. After achieving our engagement objective, we transition the work to the long-term functional owner for continued execution. Acting as internal management consultants, the Catalyst Team identifies opportunities, crafts recommendations and implements strategies to help the company reach its goals.

In the role of Catalyst Team Senior Director, you will oversee 2-3 catalyst projects, collaborating closely with the respective Catalyst Lead for each initiative. The Catalyst Team Senior Director plays a key role in project initiation including driving alignment on the charter, establishing the team, and initiating an effective program strategy.

Once projects are underway, you will provide ongoing strategic direction, guide prioritization, manage complex escalations, and support high-level decision-making to ensure successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Leadership

  • Connects with the executive sponsor, steering committee, and cross-functional leadership to achieve buy-in, overcome resistance and set the strategy
  • Provides day-to-day strategic direction and prioritization to the projects to ensure the delivered solution will produce the expected benefits
  • Ensures the team is setup for success and removes barriers such as identifying resources, securing funding, and driving alignment
  • Leads and mentors the Catalyst Leads, Catalyst Analysts and program leadership team, providing consistent feedback to improve the team's effectiveness

Problem Solving and Decision Making

  • Analyzes complex business challenges and data, identifies root causes and distills insights
  • Assesses analyses and recommendations from multiple angles driving to the right conclusion balancing cross-functional priorities, customer needs, and our strategy
  • Evaluates and queues up decision options with a recommendation to senior leaders
  • Manages cross-functional discussions to resolve issues, address challenges, make decisions, and drive prioritization with senior stakeholders

Change Management and Program Strategy

  • Refines and drives approval of the charter and success metrics
  • Translates findings and vision into an actionable strategic plan and implementation strategy. Recommends and leads the program structure and team
  • Champions change throughout the project. Drives alignment with stakeholders from highly complex problem identification through recommendations and implementation
  • Develops and implements change and project management strategies. Applies appropriate best practices, tools, and methodologies
  • Monitors the status of the program. Handles and resolves escalations from the team

Qualifications, skills and experience

The Senior Director will demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Sustantial experience of shaping and mobilizing large-scale business transformaiton projects across multiple functions for global enterprises ($5+bn revenue) in an internal consulting arm (or similar practice) or in a management consultancy.
  • Experience within the data center or technolgy sector preferred
  • Strong track record as a manager of managers leading high-performing, high-impact and high-intellects consutling-style teams
  • Proven executive presence and strong communication skills with the ability to synthesize, distill, and simplify information
  • Results-driven problem solver with critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Quick learner and ability to think on your feet
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to influence
  • Tenacity to push through challenges and solve hard problems
  • Ability to pivot between the big picture and the details
  • Highly skilled in navigating ambiguity
