Role Description

As a Researcher in Booking.com's FinTech Business Unit, you will advocate for the needs of both travelers and partners, working towards facilitating easy-to-use, secure, and regulated online payments through our payments platform. You will be involved in innovating products that support our business growth and aim to enhance a seamless payment and pay-out experience. You'll also benefit from being part of our friendly, knowledgeable and experienced research community of 50+ Researchers. With many opportunities to learn from others, participate in training opportunities and take part in mentorship activities to grow your career.

We are seeking two Researchers who are experienced in both qualitative & quantitative research methods (such as surveys, diary studies and interviews), as well as secondary & expert methods (such as literature reviews, cognitive walkthroughs and desk research). You have experience working with multi-functional product teams at different phases of the product life-cycle.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide insights, conduct independent research, collect and analyse behaviour through a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, and working with senior researchers you'll translate these insights and trends into product improvements.
  • Support a user-centred design approach by collaborating closely with your UX, product team and others in the business.
  • Test out new ways of gathering consumer insights through new research tools or mixing methods.
  • Support in advocating for user needs by clearly communicating research findings and recommendations to immediate stakeholders.

For the first role: You'll be an adaptable mixed method researcher who is enthusiastic to work across Fintech on B2B & B2C topics;

  • Experience managing B2B online communities and enthusiastic to work on creative ways to help boost engagement
  • Experience with running usability studies and supporting stakeholders in running their own tactical studies with tools such as Usertesting.com.
  • Flexibility to adapt to different topics to support more experienced Researchers across B2B and B2C research
  • Experienced in survey design & offering support with tracker and omnibus surveys

For the second role: Whilst you'll be comfortable in conducting qualitative and quantitative research, you'll have a particular passion for quantitative research and bringing multiple data sources together to understand our users

  • Independently lead quantitative studies from inception through delivery, generating key insights about our users for your team and stakeholders.
  • Experience in conducting research to uncover user behavior patterns, purchase drivers, and growth opportunities.
  • Translate research findings into actionable insights that inform product strategy, and product & design decisions.
  • Partner with other researchers, product managers, data scientists, marketing teams, and commercial leaders to drive strategic, data-backed initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2-3 years (UX) research delivery in a consultancy, agency or in-house setting
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with primary and secondary research methods
  • Experience with designing and implementing (UX) Research projects with a great degree of autonomy
  • Strong analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to distill the output of complex and disparate datasets
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis software, such as SPSS, R or JMP (for role 2).
  • Data analysis experience using SQL and Python is desirable (for role 2).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Confident and flexible communicator who is comfortable in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Experience working in Banking, Scaled FinTechs or B2B Financial Regulatory Technology is desirable but not required.
