We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Capital Management to join our Balance Sheet & Capital Management team. This role is located in Pittsburgh or New York
In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- Manages a regional team of professional staff and managers responsible for capital planning
- Sets and oversees the operating procedures for the capital management framework
- Through interaction with business leaders, monitors risks inherent in new or changing Bank products, recommends and implements adjustments to technical processes as needed.
- Monitors industry and/or regulatory developments and applies best practices in order to establish policies and procedures that support overall bank balance sheet and capital management
- Develops reports and briefings for senior management, highlighting operational activities/outcomes, identifying risks and recommending proposed solutions.
- Ensures recommendations align to the corporate Treasury strategies
- Uses industry experience and insights to effectively influence decision making of senior management team. Identifies and leads the mitigation of potential risks to the integrity of the applicable framework.
- Builds and cultivates relationships with internal peers in Treasury and Finance and externally with regulators
- Leverages relationships to remove roadblocks or improve efficiencies.
- Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
- Being entrepreneurial and self-directed - being able to take a conceptual business challenge from an initial set of facts and hypotheses to real, practical solutions
- Working closely with and counseling senior business leaders with the objective of being a trusted advisor
- Being intellectually curious and interested in the future of financial services and shaping an industry through one of its major stakeholders
- Managing complexity and leading multiple projects with an unrelenting focus and prioritization
- Being a thoughtful communicator who can express complex ideas in simple, practical terms for a wide range audiences
- Bring a global mindset and working across a diverse set of environments
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Degree in math, engineering, statistics, computational finance or economics preferred.
- MBA, CFA, or CPA/CA preferred.
- 12-15 years of total work experience, with 3-5 years of management experience, preferred.
- Experience with capital stress testing, capital risk management, interest rate risk management, and/or asset-liability management within large complex financial organizations preferred.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,000 and $258,500 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
