Overview
Counsel - Bank Supervisory and Regulatory Attorney - Markets & Payments
This attorney will cover supervisory and regulatory affairs as a member of BNY Mellon's Public Policy and Government Affairs team within the Legal Department, focusing on markets, payments, and clearing and collateral management regulation. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Office of Regulatory Relations and advising businesses and corporate functions in connection with all aspects of BNY Mellon's regulatory and supervisory relationships, including regulatory policy and supervisory examinations;
- Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on regulatory developments and supervisory guidance;
- Identifying emerging supervisory trends and advising businesses and corporate functions on supervisory expectations;
- Partnering with lines of business and corporate functions to identify regulatory priorities, assess impact and opportunities, and develop company positions;
- Driving proactive internal regulatory strategy and external communications; and
- Preparing speakers and materials for supervisory and regulatory interactions.

Qualifications
- 3-7 years of legal experience at federal banking or regulatory agency, law firm, trade association or large financial institution;
- Strong working knowledge of the financial services industry and U.S. banking agencies;
- Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape and experience working directly with regulators;
- Excellent analytical and oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex regulations;
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and time sensitive issues;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across different teams;
- Flexible and adaptable to changing issues and regulatory priorities; and
- Proactive self-starter that demonstrates initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness to work independently.
