As Director, you will lead Bixal’s content and digital strategy consulting practice, overseeing team engagements on a diverse portfolio of projects and participating in business development activities. You will develop a content focused, consulting approach for transforming federal agencies’ digital offerings to improve the lives of people globally. As a Director you will lead the team in working with our clients to develop, plan and implement content strategies. You will play a key role in our integrated approach to solving problems in a digital world and make things easier to find, use, and understand.

Responsibilities:

  • Practice Area Leadership 30%: 
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of content strategists and digital marketing analysts in providing a wide range of deliverables and support services to federal clients. 
  • Provide leadership to the team in collaborating with cross-functional teams.  
  • Establish and maintain quality control processes for all work products produced by the team.  
  • Develop innovative methods and approaches to modernize and improve the effectiveness of products and services within the field. 
  • Drive initiatives to enhance the expertise of the team in alignment with industry best practices. 
  • Identify and manage staffing needs across contracts; work with managers to assign individual responsibilities. 
  • Foster collaboration within the content strategy team and across all practice areas. 
  • Educate colleagues and client stakeholders on the importance of content strategy and its role within the overall customer experience. 
  • Provide and support thought leadership surrounding emerging trends and issues. 
  • Manage individuals and teams, develop relationship-building efforts; lead and mentor junior staff.  

  • Client Delivery 30%: 
  • Serve as strategic client contact and trusted advisor for select engagements. 
  • Develop a deep understanding of client information, including business strategy, services, and stakeholders. 
  • Counsel clients about developments in the public sector and civic engagement. 
  • Continuously seek ways to improve client service and identify opportunities for expanding client relationships.
  • Monitor quality of strategic work products to ensure the team’s deliverables are comprehensive, thoughtful, measurable, and on message. 
  • Promote best practices and innovative approaches to problem solving within the field. 

  • Business Development 30%: 
  • Contribute to new business proposals and presentations for federal clients. 
  • Identify emerging opportunities to increase client value. 
  • Lead solutioning efforts in response to business proposals. 

  • Thought Leadership 10%: 
  • Contribute to Bixal’s brand awareness in the market through attending and presenting at conferences. 
  • Support the team in advancing content strategy through thought leadership initiatives, including Bixal's Content Strategy DC Meetup group. 
  • Collaborate with other practice area directors to enhance and educate on problem solving methodologies in the digital space. 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of total professional experience 
  • 3+ experience managing or directing content strategy teams in a cross-functional environment 
  • Bachelor's degree in related field. Masters preferred. 
  • Experience building and managing high-performing professional services teams. 
  • Strong leadership skills and an aptitude for making informed decisions and recommendations. 
  • Proven success in leading teams who work within an Agile framework to execute content strategies for large, complex digital products. 
  • Proven success in working with Drupal to conduct content inventories and analysis, create content models, and craft content editorial and governance plans. 
  • Proven success in crafting well-researched and user-centric content, such as transactional and informational website copy, social media posts, blog posts, or articles; turn complex topics into compelling, digestible, and engaging narratives. 
  • Experience in executing best practices for incorporating data driven insights to optimize content with the ability to interpret and translate data into meaningful insights, strategies, and plans. 
  • Experience in incorporating cross-functional findings such as user research reports, usability testing outcomes, analytics reports, and technical and business requirements to ensure iterative improvements to content development, content organization and SEO. 
  • Knowledge of launching and maintaining digital initiatives, such as new or modernized websites running on Drupal. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Experience creating a wide variety of deliverables aligned to our client's strategies and missions. 
  • Proficiency in translation and cultural adaptation to ensure content resonates with diverse audiences while maintaining brand voice and integrity. 
  • Experience working with federal government agencies 
  • Ability to undergo and obtain a Public Trust security clearance
