About This Role

The Medical Director, Neuropsychiatry role is a part of US Medical Affairs, a strategic partner within Biogen, that helps inform medical practice across our therapeutic areas and pipeline to improve meaningful patient outcomes. As a key member of the US Neuropsychiatry Medical Director's office team reporting to the US Medical Neuropsychiatry Head, the Medical Director for Neuropsychiatry is the medically accountable Lead for supporting the development and implementation of the US Medical Strategy for Biogen's Neuropsychiatry therapeutic area commercialized products and related assets. What You'll Do

  • Lead the long-range planning, development and execution of the US medical strategy, tactics, and budget in alignment with Global strategy & US budgetary expectations.
  • Serve as the US Medical expert within KME engagement strategy to include leadership across North America Medical on the Collaboration for Impact Model.
  • Serve as the US Medical contact for key functions/stakeholders on the US affiliate level including Market Access, Commercial Marketing, EG&I, Legal/Compliance, Epidemiology, Pharmacovigilance. You will effectively interact and collaborate at multiple levels.
  • Develop the US Medical Affairs NP short and long term strategies, and lead specific HCP segment projects to address identified medical/scientific educational gaps in close collaboration and alignment with US Neuropsychiatry clinical experts, marketing leads, and market access leads.
  • Serve as US Medical Director Lead for aligning processes, systems and metrics with alliance partners, in collaboration with US Strategy, Operations and Excellence.
  • Present data at US Medical affairs events, including advisory boards and trainings as well as congresses & medical education events.
  • Build and nurture relationships with external stakeholders (including HCPs, healthcare institutions and advocacy groups) in Neuropsychiatry therapeutic landscape.
  • Lead internal leadership reporting communication with Neuropsychiatry Head (PERFORM execution, Biogen North America leadership communications).
  • Within Neuropsychiatry space: Lead Grants, Sponsorship, and CME process as well as develop relationships with professional societies and patient advocacy groups (PAGs) (collaborating with Biogen leads for PAGs)
  • Create positive team climate in alignment with Biogen's culture.

Who You Are

You are a scientific or clinical professional with a passion for science and deep scientific knowledge. You have a marked curiosity about healthcare and business opportunities. You keep patients, payers and physicians top of mind in your daily work and collaborate to solve critical scientific and business challenges.

Required Skills

  • MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP or comparable advanced degree is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of pharmaceutical industry experience is required, preferably with prior work in Headquarters-based Medical Affairs role &/or Field Medical based role.
  • Relevant experience in Psychiatry is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of US regulations as relevant to Medical Affairs is required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with medical launch as well as products at different stages of the lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and collaborate with global, regional and/or affiliate medical to ensure regional activities are executed in alignment with global medical strategy and ensuring the insights and needs from them are known and properly addressed.
  • Ability to manage projects and take initiative to solve complex and challenging problems.
  • Leadership experience managing and developing a team of Medical Affairs professionals (>2 direct reports).

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $220,000.00-$303,000.00

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
