About This Role

The Associate Director, Marketing – Digital & Social Media, Rare Disease - Friedreich Ataxia (FA) - will be a critical role and visible leader within the North American Organization leading the overall digital and social media strategy and execution across HCP and patient/caregiver audiences. This role is pivotal in shaping and implementing impactful digital marketing campaigns that engage the HCP and patient communities to drive a deep understanding of the disease and treatment options across unbranded and branded content.  

As an integral role on the FA Marketing team, this position will work closely with HCP and Patient marketing leads, as well as omnichannel, digital development and media partners.  The ideal candidate will leverage stakeholder insights, advanced analytics, and emerging digital trends to create tailored digital experiences that deliver measurable outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Digital strategy development: Lead the creation of comprehensive digital marketing strategies that align with brand objectives, focusing on HCP and patient engagement, awareness and activation
  • Content strategy: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external agencies to  develop compelling, targeted digital content that is relevant and aligned with brand strategy
  • Social media leadership: Develop and execute social media strategies That drive brand awareness, foster community engagement and support patient education initiatives.  Serve as a social media subject matter expert delivering compelling campaigns based on business scenarios and customer insights, orchestrating capabilities to deliver expected outcomes. Including, but not limited to social media advertising, influencer strategy and social listening.
  • Data-driven decision making: Utilize advanced analytics to assess the effectiveness of digital and social media campaigns, refine strategies based on insights and metrics
  • Cross functional collaboration: Partner with omnichannel, corporate communications and patient advocacy and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach and messaging across various channels
  • Social media governance: Establish and partner with cross functional teams to execute social media governance frameworks to ensure brand consistency, regulatory compliance and risk management across all digital channels. Develop guidelines for content approval, monitoring and response management.
  • Leading on Innovation: Identify and incorporate innovative social media strategies, programs and tactics that leverage advancements in technology, media, and communications. Participate in external industry events, continuously learning about innovative social media trends and practices, bringing best practices to Biogen to improve effectiveness of Biogen’s social media campaigns within rare disease
  • Agency Management: Manage relationships with external digital and media agencies, overseeing project scope, budget and deliverables to maximize impact and investment.

*This role is Hybrid based out of Cambridge, MA and requires 3 days a week onsite

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
    7+ pharma or biotech commercial experience; within those, 5+ years of digital & social media marketing experience 
  • Proven track record of planning and delivering digital and social media strategies at launch and across the product life cycle for both unbranded and branded campaigns
  • Specific technical experiences should include knowledge in social media management platforms, digital channels governance and operation, digital content strategy, social media listening and content creation
  • Experience managing agencies with a focus content development and engagement strategy
  • Credible, dynamic, and creative professional with high energy and customer-centric mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and strong personal presence
  • Thrive on challenge and will be a highly collaborative, perceptive, and analytical problem solver, and exhibit strategic and innovative agility
  • Expertise in making key business choices and leading implementation across the matrix
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Skills: 

•    Rare Disease experience 

•    Previous experience on both agency and pharma/biotech side 

Additional Information

The base salary range for this position is $161,000- $222,000. Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
