Position Overview

Autodesk is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Principal Software Engineer with experience with graphics technologies and large-scale application development. This important role will influence the future of Autodesk's graphics solutions and ensure and scalability in enterprise-level applications. As a Principal Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, mentor senior developers, and inspire creativity within the team. You will work with teams to design graphics pipelines and technologies. You will report to the Engineering Manager and will work from Pune location.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for graphics software development
  • Mentor and groom senior developers to take on higher responsibilities and provide reliable solutions
  • Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of next-generation graphics technologies
  • Ensure the solution implementations achieve desired quality attributes, such as performance, scalability, security, and resiliency
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and tech lead to translate requirements into well-documented engineering solutions
  • Represent the engineering needs and feedback from the team in multiple forums and cross-platform Programmer
  • Stay informed about new technologies in graphics and large-scale application development
  • Rigorously test and increase applications for responsiveness, quality, and efficiency
  • Provide strategic advice to the leadership team regarding the technical direction of graphics products
  • Initiate plans and solutions to push us forward and achieve engineering excellence
  • Take an active part in the global architect forum, leading cross-team programmer and communicating action items to relevant partners
  • Collaborate with a distributed team and partners, contributing to Autodesk culture values

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of software development experience, with a focus on graphics-related domains
  • 5+ years in a technical leadership role overseeing complex projects
  • Expertise in C++ and graphics libraries (e.g., VTK, Vulkan, Metal, OpenGL, and WebGL)
  • Track record in performance optimization and developing large-scale applications
  • Experience designing and implementing complex cross-platform software architecture
  • Guide engineers, encouraging learning and team growth
  • Collaboration Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners, able to work in a global and distributed environment
  • Experience with cloud services such as AWS, with a focus on storage and compute
  • Familiarity with CAD, PLM, and simulation technologies
  • Hands-on experience with API architecture and management, secure engineering practices, and cross-platform development
