Position Overview

Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is transforming the construction industry by connecting teams, workflows, and data across every phase of the building lifecycle-from design through operations. With capabilities spanning document management, project scheduling, cost control, and field collaboration, ACC is the integrated platform that empowers builders to deliver with greater predictability, safety, and speed.

As we continue evolving ACC to meet the dynamic needs of the global construction industry, we're seeking a User Experience Research Manager to lead innovation in construction research. This role focuses on delivering strategic, end-to-end insights that shape the future of ACC and construction workflows. You'll lead an experienced team of researchers, connect their work directly to Autodesk's Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) priorities, and collaborate across functions to drive measurable, integrated impact.

Reporting to the Director of User Experience Research for AEC, with a dotted line to the Snr Director, Experience Design for Construction this leader will blend deep research expertise with strong systems thinking, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement to influence product vision, improve decision-making, and activate insights across the Construction product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of user researchers focused on construction, helping them prioritize work tied directly to business goals, product strategy, and cross-AEC impact
  • Design research programs that span the full arc-discover → define → design → deliver-ensuring insights inform everything from early vision to late-stage optimization
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to build empathy and shared user understanding through immersive and participatory research experiences with design, product and data partners
  • Seek end-to-end opportunities that elevate construction workflows across the platform, considering research programs that bridge concept through construction where applicable
  • Incorporate research and insights from adjacent teams like strategy, marketing and competitive intelligence to broaden context and increase the reach and relevance of UXR-generated insights
  • Use a strategic mix of engagement tactics to keep stakeholders informed and invested throughout the process
  • Translate insights into bold, validated product ideas through storytelling and ideation sessions, followed by iterative concept testing - moving beyond findings to inspire confident decision-making
  • Partner with analytics and data science teams to integrate behavioral data into research narratives, driving a holistic view of the user experience
  • Guide research team to adopt AI practices, enhancing their productivity and quality of output, while also collaborating with product teams to deliver innovative, user centric AI-driven features
  • Establish success frameworks for research, measuring outcomes such as product changes, team alignment, and business impact-and communicating them through clear, compelling stories
  • Partner with the broader AEC research team to shape integrated, horizontal workstreams that influence the future of the Forma Industry Cloud-bringing a Construction lens to ensure the platform transforms how construction teams plan, collaborate, and deliver
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in construction tech and digital delivery to guide forward-looking research that anticipates customer and market shifts

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years in UX research, with significant experience influencing product teams in enterprise or technical domains
  • 4+ years managing research teams, with proven success in guiding and advocating for high-value work
  • Strong systems thinker, with the ability to align research to complex product ecosystems and strategic business needs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead integrated, cross-functional programs that result in measurable impact and actionable decisions
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with experience influencing senior audiences and cross-disciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in human-centered design, social science, or related field. Experience in the construction or broader AEC industry, especially with digital workflows or BIM practices
  • Familiarity with SaaS development environments and agile product teams
  • Comfort incorporating data science, experimentation, and analytics into mixed-methods research
  • Proven success in leading research that drives platform-level decisions and innovation

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $111,200 and $152,900. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
