Roles and Responsibilities
Troops is looking for a seasoned and passionate world-class developer to assume a key role on our engineering team. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial self-starter, excited to work on a small collaborative team, passionate about clean and maintainable code, has a proven track record of designing scalable applications, strong understanding of DevOps, zero-downtime deployment procedures, and relational and no-SQL databases. Knowledge or desire to learn Scala or prior experience with other functional languages is a huge plus. If you lead by example, demonstrate excellence and constant desire to learn and are excited to solve tough challenges while having a lot of fun with your co-workers, we want to hear from you! This position is full-time and based on-site in New York City.
Qualifications and Experience

- BS, MS or Ph.D in Computer Science, Math or other closely related degree
- 5-10 Years of experience building scalable software for the web in Scala, Java, Clojure, Haskell, C# C++ or similar
- Familiarity with JavaScript, ReactJS or other front end technologies
- Entrepreneurial spirit, go-getter attitude and hunger to "go big"
- Exceptional understanding of web technologies, REST APIs, concurrency and system architecture
- Strong engineering culture and passion for engineering best practices
- Proven track record of building for scale and performance
- Technical curiosity and enthusiasm to move around the stack
- Solid knowledge of Relational and noSQL databases
- Passion for developing well-tested flexible solutions
- Ability to scope and plan projects and juggle multiple priorities
- Attention to detail and desire to build top quality, market-leading product
- Ability to own your work, strive for excellent while shipping fast and desire to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environment
