Catering Services Supervisor - Univ. of Mississippi
Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and service-driven Part-Time Events Supervisor to support our dynamic catering operations at the University of Mississippi. In this hands-on leadership role, you will be responsible for the successful execution of catered events across campus, ensuring high-quality service, seamless coordination, and guest satisfaction. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, thrive in fast-paced environments, and enjoy working as part of a team to create memorable experiences.
Job Responsibilities
Supervise the setup, execution, and breakdown of on-campus catering events (banquets, receptions, VIP events, student functions, etc.)
Lead and coordinate a team of catering staff, assigning duties and ensuring timely service delivery
Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients and guests during events, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor
Ensure all food presentation, table settings, and service meet university standards and event specifications
Address any on-site issues or last-minute changes promptly and effectively
Train, coach, and motivate student and hourly team members on event procedures and customer service expectations
Collaborate with the Catering Manager to review event orders and confirm logistics
Maintain cleanliness and organization of event areas, including equipment and storage
Ensure adherence to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards at all times

Qualifications
Qualifications:
1?2 years of experience in catering, hospitality, or event management (supervisory experience preferred)
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead by example

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Professional appearance and demeanor
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and campus holidays
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working in a university or campus dining environment
Familiarity with catering event software (e.g., CaterTrax, TripleSeat) is a plus
Food Handler?s or ServSafe Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Bar experience preferred or willingness to train
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE)
