Job Description

This role directs capital project construction activities and multi-year capital project planning under the direction of the VP of Performance Management. They will identify, select, and manage general contractors and sub-contractors for projects to be completed across LOB contracts and ensure compliance with the construction contract, quality of work, budget, and timely completion. The Construction Director will spend most of their time providing Project Management support and leadership to on-site construction project managers to whom there will be a dotted-line reporting relationship.

This is a remote position and travel is expected to fluctuate between 50-70%. The candidate will ideally be based in the West.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operation and use of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Construction Project Management software.
  • Support LOB General Managers with management of contractors and sub-contractors. This will include but is not limited to selection, prioritization of work requests, quality control, budget, and compliance.
  • Support onsite Project Managers and act as a functional resource to them. (Dotted Line Reporting)
  • Ensure all construction activities are performed to acceptable and applicable standards for the LOB and ensure completion of project milestones on time and within budget.
  • Work alongside on-site teams and client partners to obtain approval for proposed projects.
  • Support on-property construction project managers, Regional leadership, and Finance in annual and multi-year preparation of capital project budgets.
  • Present approval for budgeted capital projects, and support on-property construction project managers to prepare scope of work, obtain bids, and provide documentation necessary to attach to approval request documents.
  • Work with Regional, District, and local leaders to ensure alignment between project proposals and intended contract deliverables.
  • Provide oversight in the preparation of standardized construction contracts.
  • Assist with construction contract administration by reviewing contractor safety plans, schedules, staging areas, requests for information, change requests, change orders, and provide periodic project progress reports to management.
  • Provide regular written updates on all activities to SVP Compliance and Performance Management.
  • Coordinate with on-site team and regional leadership on all activities to ensure compliance with the Concession Contracts and timely response to client on issues or requests.
  • Provide direct oversight of Aramark Historic Preservation Center and support designated historic architects for all projects involving ?historic? real property assets and ensure all designs are coordinated and approved with local national park units and State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO) and in accordance with applicable regulations and contract requirements.
  • Responsible for overseeing and reviewing all environmental aspects of approved real and personal property improvement projects.in coordination with Director of Sustainability and Aramark Safety & Risk department.
  • Responsible for ensuring the highest safety standards are followed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s degree in Construction Management or other related field plus ten to fifteen years experience in managing construction projects related to government contracts and real estate development. Other experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired is also acceptable.
  • Experience with operating Aramark E-builder and general working knowledge of CMMS systems.
  • Experience implementing sustainable features into construction projects including extensive knowledge of: LEED requirements and US Green Building Council Standards, Green Restaurant, and IACC operating standards.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and specifications.
  • Must have valid driver?s license.
  • Broad base of technical knowledge and skills related to all assigned planning functions, including knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and permit processes.
  • Excellent planning, administrative and budget management skills.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills.
  • Ability to interface and debrief senior level government officials and other senior level clients.
  • Broad technical knowledge and skills in the building or construction trades and buildings and grounds maintenance operations
  • Good planning, administrative and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to represent Aramark and deal effectively with a wide variety of company personnel, customers, clients, vendors and others outside the Company.
