Apple seeks an experienced, energetic, and highly skilled Accountant to join the Engineering & Operations Finance team. The ideal candidate has strong financial accounting expertise, inherent leadership skills, exceptional business acumen, strong analytical capabilities, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, an aptitude for systems, and a deep interest in Apple's products, business, and strategy. This role is within the global Operations FP&A team and is primarily responsible for supporting the global SOX and compliance program, global lease accounting, and other FP&A projects as assigned. The position requires in-depth knowledge of GAAP, accounting and financial systems, Apple's financial policies and procedures, and experience with external/internal audit and/or SOX compliance. The role provides world-class support to global Operations Directors and their teams, requiring excellent communication skills, strong business insight, and the ability to solve problems in real time. The position provides a unique opportunity to work closely with all areas of Engineering & Operations and cross-functionally with many teams, including Business Assurance and Compliance, IS&T, Global Business Solutions, Corporate Accounting, and Corporate Procurement, as well as Apple's external audit team. Key Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in a "Big 4" accounting/consulting environment and/or comparable experience in conducting internal or external audit and/or SOX work in a for a large multinational public company a strong plus.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, including lease accounting.
  • Ability to develop, design, and execute SOX testing and review the testing of others; SOX experience strongly preferred.
  • Capable of performing risk assessments and identifying key controllable business and financial risks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem identification and analytical skills.
  • Ability to independently develop and write meaningful reports and presentations, with high-level proficiency in presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Motivated self-starter with strong ability to develop and foster positive global relationships across many functions.
  • Inherent ability to see the "big picture" and quickly make sense of the interrelationships of systems, accounting and forecast information.
  • Fierce attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Champion of continuous improvement and innovation, including new technologies.
  • Experience with SAP, BPC, AuditBoard, Business Objects, Tableau, SQL a plus.

Description

- Assist with execution of Engineering and Operations SOX program, including SOX testing and review, ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards. - Support the work of Apple's external auditors as needed. - Perform global lease accounting, including the accurate recording, classification, and reporting of lease-related financial information. - Assist with automation and process improvement efforts, particularly for lease accounting. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement financial best practices and optimize financial processes and systems. - Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key compliance, accounting and forecast information. - Stay abreast of changes in financial regulations and standards, assessing the impact on the organization and implementing necessary changes to ensure ongoing compliance. - Contribute to special projects and initiatives aimed at improving financial performance, minimizing risk, and enhancing compliance and operational efficiency. - Support FP&A and other projects as assigned.

Education & Experience

Minimum Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA certification a strong plus.

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $131,300.00 and $197,400.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
