We're seeking talented electrical engineering technical leadership in a System Architecture team. The position is as a highly cross-functional individual contributor, design engineer, and systems architect. The position requires the candidate to define, guide, and own aspects of system electrical architecture product definition; determine and how the electrical design can deliver the product's features. The ideal candidate has core proficiencies and domain expertise in various aspects of computer systems & product design; has optimally influenced decision-makers, product features, and the customer experience. They will provide HWEE architectural guidance to x-functional engineering teams to establish product definition integration requirements & identify enabling technologies.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in a lead system or module architecture role
  • A minimum of 3 years managing a team of electrical or computer science engineers/architects
  • Analytical skills to lead the team on crucial systems engineering architectural and implementation trade-offs. Persuaded stakeholders, re-defined constraints, discovered paths to convergence with creative solutions.
  • Create and influenced system specification documents for floor-planning, electrical, power delivery, power integrity, thermal, PCB stack-up, interconnect, and physical fit requirements.
  • Navigated compliance requirements (e.g. EMC, Safety, Environmental Engineering)
  • Hands-on experience in prototype bring-up, debugging, functional verification, and manufacturing support. Demonstrated innovative, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Created, defined, and successfully presented material to upper management and influenced decision-makers.
  • Excellent written skills for clear reporting of data analysis and conclusions.

Description

Create the Future: Provide System Architecture Guidance - Work with Mechanical, Industrial Design, and Module engineering teams to guide product system integration feasibility, feature & design trade-offs, early system & PCB floor-planning - Build system architecture specifications, block diagrams, and product requirements documentation. Anticipate & prepare for future product system integration & interconnect needs Champion the product: Review, challenge, & influence x-functional roadmaps. - Work with x-functional teams on HW/SW/MFG enabling technologies - Work with Performance architects to define, simulate, model, and improve performance per watt - Analyze, guide, and support thermal management solutions; establish system trade-offs Leave your mark: Review, challenge, & influence people and processes. - Lead EE system architecture phase & early design team members. - Define, develop, or utilize tools, scripts, automation, and methods of system analysis - Mentor junior engineers to best practices and institutionalize your best ideas & processes.

Education & Experience

BS EE w/8 years; MS EE w/5 years overall experience in developing consumer products

  • Schematic Capture and Layout (Cadence Concept & Allegro), PCB SiPi
  • Productivity (e.g., Keynote, Numbers, Pages; Powerpoint, Excel, Word; Omnigraffle)
  • Analysis and Automation: Matlab, Perl, Python, VBA
  • This position may require occasional domestic and international travel.

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $199,800.00 and $364,100.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
