Description

As a Data Collection Lead, this role will involve hands-on data collections at scale, and know-how to leverage critical observational skills while gathering data directly and indirectly through teams. You will work full-time, onsite, both independently, and in collaboration with highly technical teams (such as our growing data collection, user research, Software (SW) engineering, and Computer Vision/ Machine Learning (CVML) research) on accelerated timelines. Success involves being detail oriented, self- motivated, having a high tolerance for change/ambiguity in partnerships, with a strong sense of emotional intelligence for your team and participants. Your success is heavily derived from the strength of your relationships. Additional responsibilities will include: - Leading data collection solution development and working cross-functionally to develop and transform complicated data asks and privacy/confidentiality/safety/legal requirements into a clear and executable data collection solution - Defining data collection Hardware/Software (HW/SW) infrastructure specification and aligning with cross-functional teams to ensure technical performance, usability, and stability - Designing and implementing DC project management, risk control process, efficient budget management and cost control - Designing and implementing continuous training plans to provide sufficient operation, protocol and HW/SW handling and clear documentations to DC teams - Leading and supervising teams and data collection vendors to implement data collection and delivering complete and accurate data - Developing data quality control processes, monitoring data quality and ensuring data integrity throughout the data collection process - Working with SW and CVML engineers to support data evaluation, curation, and annotation process. - Developing and driving the feedback loop from data consumers to data collection - Driving process improvements across the organization to continuously improve the way we work

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, AIML, HW/SW Engineering, Data Science, etc.)
  • 6 years experience in large scale, in-the-wild, data collection management
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and external vendors to deliver large scale data collections
  • Excellent project management, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Extensive project and vendor management experience for scaled field data collections
  • Resourceful, creative, results oriented with a strong sense of accountability
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while working with others and making adjustment suggestions in sensitive situations
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving & critical thinking capacities, thinking creatively in order to gain in speed, efficiency, and quality
  • Proficiency in data management tools and technologies, such as SQL, Excel, and data visualization software
  • Ability to analyze / interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform decision-making and to present data to non-technical partners while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work on site as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or above in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, AIML, HW/SW Engineering, Data Science, etc.); Computer Science background preferred
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Python, C++, or similar
  • Experience with industrial software development
  • Experience with AIML development and application

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $172,100 and $305,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
