You will work with both suppliers and internal teams at Apple to shape the display related technologies that go into Apple products. A successful candidate will not only need to develop new tech, but also educate a broad audience of people at Apple about their benefits and tradeoffs. This position is focusing on the development, prototyping, and communication of display backplane technologies for future Apple products. The team features a diverse engineering roster including panel engineers, optical engineers, human perception experts, product design engineers, and experimental physicists. We work at a fast pace and require everyone to be highly self motivated. A successful candidate needs to be a flexible thinker who is able to problem solve outside of their respective technical area.

Description
This position is focused on the panel design, layout, simulation, characterization, and failure analysis of display backplanes. The work requires interaction with cross functional teams featuring a diverse engineering roster including panel design, process, device, and optical engineers. Specifically, the role requires the successful candidate to - Manage display suppliers to design and deliver panels meeting Apple requirements - Conduct panel design and layout studies with SPICE and TCAD modeling, run simulations to evaluate electrical and optical performances - Assess trade-offs of different panel architectures, pixels and on-panel driver design, and interface technologies - Coordinate display design, bring-up, and characterization activities; establish process/performance correlations and trade-offs - Communicate and present results to broader audience within Apple and with display suppliers
Minimum Qualifications
- BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
- Hands-on experience, technical knowledge, and proven track record in the design, development, and characterization of active matrix displays or similar technologies
- Experience in display failure analysis and DOE design
Preferred Qualifications
- Concise & effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English
- Supplier/vendor management experience
- Deep knowledge of TFT device technology, physics, and modeling
- Deep knowledge of display backplane fabrication process and relevant technologies
- Experience with display testing and validation
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
