Job Purpose and Overview

The PMO at Appfire is the enterprise program management office and functions as the primary learning hub for the entire organization. We are the knowledge repository for ensuring the successful delivery of projects, aligning our efforts with the strategic goals of the organization. Beyond project management, we acknowledge the significance of managing change during project implementations to facilitate seamless transitions. As the central learning hub for Appfire, our PMO is dedicated to promoting continuous improvement and knowledge sharing throughout the organization. This commitment involves offering resources, training, and support to empower teams in their project pursuits, ultimately enhancing the overall capabilities of the organization.

Appfire is seeking to hire a Technical Project Manager within the PMO team to help advance and improve upon a high-value enterprise Program Management Office (ePMO). The ePMO will be a center of excellence for program and organizational change management practices, driving the execution of a varied portfolio of high-profile programs and projects.

In the role of Technical Project Manager, you will report to the Sr. Manager of Program Management and be responsible for managing the successful and on-time delivery of compliance, security, IT operations, and enterprise initiatives that are driven by or significantly impacting one or more functional teams. You will collaborate with team managers to ensure the appropriate allocation and usage of resources for each project and ensure project stakeholders are kept informed about project progress and impediments.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for project teams.
  • Lead and manage multiple concurrent midsize to large, complex projects from inception to close, including planning, scheduling, scope definition, identifying dependencies, identifying risks and creating a mitigation plan, facilitating issue resolution, and managing escalations.
  • Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.
  • Ensure and promote adherence to the ePMO methodology while also selecting the most appropriate framework for each assigned initiative.
  • Ensure the scope of work for projects is defined, maintained, and actively updated, minimizing scope creep, tracking variance, communicating clearly to stakeholders, and facilitating change requests to manage budget or schedule impacts.
  • Collaborate, manage workflows, and drive meetings between involved teams and team members to ensure all deliverables are completed on time, and within budget.
  • Track team progress toward milestones, outcomes or deliverables, using key performance metrics to objectively identify project progress and health status.
  • Provide ongoing communication to sponsor and stakeholders to manage expectations and keep them informed about progress and impediments.
  • Review project deliverables to ensure they meet requirements and quality standards.
  • Drive process and tooling improvements to increase throughput and output quality.
  • Participate in setting best practices for project management principles for the PMO, and identify process improvement opportunities helping teams to be more efficient.

What We Would Like to See:

  • 4+ years of experience with proven track record leading and managing projects end-to-end in a waterfall project management methodology. Additional experience with hybrid and agile are a bonus.
  • Experience leading and managing security, compliance, IT operations, and/or enterprise projects.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and projects at the same time.
  • Familiarity with Confluence, Jira, Monday.com is a definite plus.
  • Experience with Mergers and Acquisitions is highly desired.
  • Track record of successful collaboration with cross-functional and distributed teams across the globe with the ability to work with different time zones.
  • Strong time management skills to prioritize and manage one's own and others' time efficiently, including meeting target dates and not overlooking any tasks or issues that need to be addressed.
  • Ability to translate complex tasks into executable, sequential, and measurable actions.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels and communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with other cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, including spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to communicate quickly and concisely (verbal and written) with management on technical issues in non-technical terms.
