Job Purpose and Overview:

Appfire is looking for a Technical Team Leader. If you:

You can become part of the team behind Agile Poker for Jira & Planning Poker - apps that make estimation a team play: choose estimation technique of your preference, invite colleagues, estimate and discuss, - everything inside Jira with teams all over the world. Our apps are used by thousands of users from various industries.

Our products are growing quickly as we are adding new features, improving users' experience, and improving core technology. Apart from estimation tools like Pokers, the team owns various apps and solutions in the Agile category - Agile Retrospectives, Toggl Integration for Jira, Issue Events: Google Calendar integration for Jira that we keep improving from a technical & product point of view. We're looking for new colleagues who will help us with that mission.

What you will do:

  • Lead a team of experienced professionals (up to 8 people) in delivering the greatest customer value. You will be responsible for the developers' growth and management, which includes mentoring, performance, and salary reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Manager, and UX Designers to shape the product's futureand minimize time to market for every product increment.
  • Hands-on software development. Design, build, and maintain efficient and scalable React / Vue.js and Node.js applications using JavaScript / TypeScript and Google Cloud Platform services. You need the openness to use your experience and leverage other programming languages, frameworks, databases, etc. to make the products better for the users and more competitive on the market.
  • Ensure the greatest quality of the product, the code, supporting processes & Agile practices (e.g. teach team through code reviews, improve test coverage, facilitate Scrum ceremonies).
  • Introduce best coding practices and support the team in implementing new product features.
  • Take ownership of technical improvements (refactoring, minimizing technical debt).

What we would like to see:

  • Proven record (5+ years) of delivery of multiple complex software development projects or products.
  • Proven, strong experience in leading (2+ years) development teams using Agile principles and practices, with the proven ability to mentor, motivate, and support the growth of engineers.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of one of the modern JavaScript frameworks and back-end platforms, or readiness/commitment to master both if you have specialized in back-end or front-end so far.
  • Truly engineering approach to solving problems. Good theoretical foundations of computer science (e.g. algorithms and computational complexity, OOP) are super practical in the ever-changing landscape of technologies.
  • Goals and data-driven approach to software product development.
  • Strong understanding of web applications, including performance, quality, and security aspects.
  • Excellent understanding of modern Cloud architectures, and practical experience implementing them in either GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Excellent communication skills and command of English at level B2 or higher.
  • NoSQL DB's knowledge and familiarity with SQL and relational databases is a plus.
