As Director, Legal Counsel Intellectual Property (IP), supporting the Vision Care Franchise , you will be trusted to work on intellectual property matters related to ophthalmic materials, medical devices, and manufacturing technologiesalongside our IP team in Fort Worth, TX.

In this role, a typical day will include:
- Collaborating with Alcon IP team colleagues, internal clients, and outside counsel on patentability, IP enforcement, patent validity, freedom-to-operate, IP strategy, and portfolio management.
- Identifying and leading IP generation and capture opportunities with cross-functional teams
- Analyzing and advising on IP-related risks related to Alcon products and projects.
- Leading and supporting IP management committees
- Providing legal expertise to R&D project teams
- Mining for, preparing, and prosecuting patent applications
- Providing legal counsel to support business development, licensing, and litigation activities.
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
- 10 Years of Relevant Experience
- Member of a state bar in good standing.
- Preferred educational background in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering.
- Registered to practice before the United State Patent and Trademark Office.
- Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a variety of technical fields, including chemistry and medical devices.
- Expertise in US and international patent laws and procedures, patent analysis, freedom-to-operate searching and counseling, patent portfolio management, and IP strategy.
