As a Senior Analytics Engineer at Airbnb, you will be an integral part of a vibrant community that empowers data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will work collaboratively with teams including Analytics Engineering, Data Platform Products, and distributed Analytics teams to craft and optimize scalable data solutions. You will have ownership of critical metrics and Midas models required for Investor Relations reporting, leveraging your expertise to deliver trusted and impactful data products.

  • Your expertise will enable self-serve consumption of reliable metrics and dashboards while supporting Investor Relations reporting and company-wide analytics
  • You will proactively shape Airbnb’s data ecosystem by designing robust data foundations and processes
  • Your contributions will drive scalability, efficiency, and cohesion in analytics, ultimately influencing Airbnb’s business strategy and organizational growth

A Typical Day: 

On a typical day, you may interface with cross-functional partners to gather data requirements, prioritize tasks, and plan your day. You’ll architect and implement new data models, such as Minerva assets, that address critical business verticals and Investor Relations priorities. You'll maintain Midas metrics architecture for company-wide reporting while developing dashboards in Tableau or Superset to enhance self-serve capabilities. Additionally, you'll troubleshoot issues, contribute to long-term infrastructure visioning, and lead technical discussions with stakeholders. Throughout the day, you’ll mentor other team members, ensuring alignment with best practices and excellence in analytics.

How You’ll Make a Difference:

  • Develop Scalable Solutions: Architect, build, and maintain critical metrics and reliable pipelines using tools like Spark, Presto, Tableau, and Airflow
  • Champion Data Excellence: Contribute leadership in metrics design and dimensional modeling practices, including adherence to Midas
  • Drive Collaborative Impact: Proactively partner with Data Engineering, Platform, and Business vertical teams, ensuring data strategy aligns with business goals
  • Innovate Reporting Practices: Enrich frameworks for experimental design in predictive modeling workflows to broaden the impact of analytics across functions
  • Lead Organizational Strategy: Balance long-term vision for data architecture by tracking dependencies and critical roadmaps

Your Expertise:

  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Expertise in distributed data processing systems (e.g., Spark, Presto) and pipeline optimization
  • Advanced SQL and data modeling mastery, with familiarity in database schema and dimensional modeling
  • Strong programming skills in Python (experience in Scala preferred)
  • Passion for creating trusted metrics and self-serve dashboards
  • Familiarity in visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Superset)
  • Experience with an ETL framework like Airflow

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
