**This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office in Hartford, CT will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

OVERVIEW

Analytics Engineers form the Audit Analytics Center for Enablement (C4E) which supports The Hartford's Internal Audit Department in its continuous assessment of the internal and external risk environment impacting the Company. The C4E evaluates controls over key operations across the entire enterprise, including all lines of business (Business & Personal Insurance, Employee Benefits, HIMCO, etc.) and functions (e.g., Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, IT.).The C4E will enable and drive use of innovative and advanced data analytics capabilities throughout Internal Audit that will serve to improve and optimize delivery of audit services in support of our businesses and customers. The Senior Analytics Engineer will also provide data analytics leadership, guidance and mentoring to auditors, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Drive Use of Advanced Analytics: Drives the use of innovative and advanced data analytics capabilities both on the team and throughout the department. This includes solving a range of technical and business questions in support of the audit department's mission to provide independent, objective assurance and advisory services.
  • Leads Design of Data Solutions: Leads the design of data solutions and performs analysis on existing data assets through root cause analysis and resolution of business/technical questions. Able to translate complex technical topics into business solutions and strategies as well as turn business requirements into a technical solution.
  • Data Management: Maintain a comprehensive C4E library of data sources and source owners. Support actions to query, format, and validate data for analysis.
  • Identify Data-Driven Opportunities: Utilize analytics solutions and related tools to identify and execute data-driven opportunities in support of the audit plan.
  • Data Analysis: Leverage data mining and business intelligence tools to analyze large datasets, identifying relationships and patterns within the data.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Strong collaboration with audit team members and relevant business and functional lines (e.g., process owners, data source owners) to maintain a strong working knowledge of the business, including its products, systems, data, processes, procedures, and customers.
  • Provides Leadership & Mentoring: Work independently and provide data analytics leadership, influencing, guidance, and coaching/mentoring to auditors, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Training Development: Support the development of C4E-based training materials and delivery of training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) required; preferred fields include business, computer science, computer engineering, data science or related areas. Professional certifications (such as CIA, CPA, or CISA) a plus.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6 years in data analytics or auditing/consulting, including 4+ years with descriptive and diagnostic-based analytics and supporting tools and scripting languages (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Python, SQL, etc.). Broader experience with predictive analytics and native Google and AWS tools is a plus.
  • Skills: Excellent influencing, collaboration and communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to work effectively with audit teams, business clients, and IT resources.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$117,200 - $175,800
