The Senior Network Engineer is accountable to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our enterprise network infrastructure. This role requires advanced technical proficiency across network engineering, security, cloud, virtualization, storage, and identity services. The role requires a strong background in maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available environments, as well as demonstrated success in automation, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration. Major Duties and Responsibilities

SD-WAN Deployment & Management

  • Design and maintain SD-WAN solutions across various network types, including fiber, broadband, and cellular.
  • Handle centralized routing, policy enforcement, QoS, and performance monitoring.

Systems and Applications Vulnerability Management

  • Identify and track systems and collaborate on vulnerability assessments across IT infrastructure.
  • Apply and test patches, adjust configurations, and deploy mitigation solutions to address security gaps.

Troubleshooting & Incident Management

  • Apply structured problem-solving methodology to identify, isolate, and resolve complex networking and network security issues.
  • Collect diagnostic data and perform root cause analysis.
  • Document resolution processes and maintain operational runbooks.

Cloud Infrastructure & Governance

  • Design and deploy scalable, secure cloud infrastructure while enforcing governance and compliance policies.
  • Monitor performance, manage costs, and analyze cloud spending to optimize efficiency and recommend savings strategies.

Virtualization & Infrastructure Management

  • Manage and maintain virtual environments (e.g., VMware) to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and collaborate with teams to support critical services.

Digital Certificate & Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Management

  • Manage the lifecycle of digital certificates and maintain a secure Public Key Infrastructure.
  • Ensure trusted, encrypted communication, and safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of digital assets.

Active Directory (AD) & Identity Services

  • Administer AD and authentication systems to ensure secure and reliable identity management.
  • Establish and maintain domain standards while reviewing configurations and policies for compliance and governance.

Network Automation & Orchestration

  • Develop and integrate automation scripts and tools to streamline network operations and improve scalability and performance.
  • Support IT and departmental units with scripting expertise to enhance efficiency across platforms.

Storage Administration

  • Manage SAN, NAS, and HCI systems by monitoring performance, provisioning resources, and enforcing data security.
  • Implement backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data availability and integrity.

Firewall & Perimeter Security

  • Manage firewalls, VPNs, IPS, and other security tools while enforcing policies and optimizing network performance.
  • Perform traffic analysis, log reviews, and ensure compliance through detailed documentation.

Cisco ISE & Access Control

  • Administer Cisco ISE for secure access control, managing device compliance, guest access, and authentication policies.
  • Ensure service integration, monitoring, and enforcement of authorization across platforms.

Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Additionally, all employees must follow policies and procedures to minimize risk by exercising judgment, raising questions to management, and adhering to policy guidelines.

Requirements

Experience

Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in network and infrastructure engineering

Preferred certifications: Cisco CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP, Preferred certifications: Palo Alto PNSSA/PCNSE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP, Azure Admin/Network Engineer Associate

  • Expert knowledge of OSI model, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing/switching protocols
  • Strong experience with firewalls, ACLs, VPNs, and other network security tools
  • Proficient with Cisco IOS, Palo Alto, Windows Server, and VMware platforms
  • Skillful with network analysis and monitoring tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, SNMP, Syslog)
  • Hands-on knowledge of network management systems like SolarWinds and PRTG
  • Adept at creating detailed documentation including network management, diagrams, processes, and procedures for IT management, Auditing, and Information Security

Education/Certifications/Licenses

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

Physical Requirements

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
