Job Description

The Scrum Master is an important member of ACTI's engineering team. This role centers around enabling activities to foster the development and growth of high-performing agile teams.
In this role, you will work closely with engineers in agile teams to deliver constant value against business objectives. The Scrum Master will facilitate and champion the agile software development process by leading daily standups, backlog grooming meetings, sprint planning meetings, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. The Scrum Master works closely with the product owner to ensure business requirements are clearly defined and prioritized.
The successful candidate has excellent communication skills, has a solid understanding of cyber security practices and principles, and has the technical acumen to drive continual innovation within the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies such as product backlog refinement, preplanning, planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives for multiple agile teams
  • Collaborate closely with the product owner to prepare and clarify the product backlog
  • Lead collaboration initiatives with developers, stakeholders, product owners to translate business objectives into user stories and development efforts
  • Help draft precise, actionable user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Assist in developing product strategies that deliver customer value and drive business growth
  • Lead teams through story grooming, decomposition, and development estimation
  • Coach and mentor team members on agile standards and best practices
  • Configure and maintain an agile project management tool (JIRA, etc.)
  • Challenging and improving the operation of the team, improving their performance and capabilities
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving
  • Support the team to improve their technical work by reviewing results and establish lessons learned as well as track the improvement
  • Facilitates getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • College degree or equivalent program completion in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Network Security, Information Security, Information Technology, or Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a product manager in an Agile development environment
  • Minimum 3 years as a Scrum Master
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a PaaS / SaaS cyber threat intelligence environment
Required Skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time with strict attention to detail.
  • Leadership abilities, including the ability to positively influencing cross-functional team members.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers to determine requirements and assess business priorities.
  • Attention to detail and deadline-focused.
  • Ability to effectively manage tradeoffs between costs and schedules versus business benefits.
  • Excellent analytical and data management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Formal Agile training or certification, such as PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Scrum Alliance, Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) or Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) training and certifications.
Desired Skills
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud offerings.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Knowledge of software architecture principals, graph analytics and network engineering concepts.
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite.
  • Healthy energy level with a positive attitude.
