Director of Economy Design

Zynga is looking for a Director of Economy Design with experience in social casino games! As a Director of Economy Design, you will oversee economy design for Zynga’s portfolio of successful social casino games (Zynga Poker, Hit It Rich! Slots, Wizard of Oz Slots and Game of Thrones Slots Casino), providing support and direction for tuning of features along with the overall in-game economy, while optimizing user experience. You will utilize methodologies of economics, behavioral psychology, and business intelligence to support a group of economists in strategically designing and maintaining a healthy free-to-play mobile game economy.

Main Responsibilities: 

• You will support a group of economists who manage the in-game economies of Zynga’s social casino portfolio, collaborating closely with them along with Product Managers and analysts to devise the strategy for each game’s features and overall economy.
• Identify and drive best practices across the portfolio for tuning of game features, modeling of impact to key casino economy metrics like RTP and economy reporting / dashboards.
• Work with social casino economists to design and implement the economy focused aspect of features which create a fun player experience, and further the strategic vision of the product with the goal of driving increased player engagement and monetization.
• Create new methodologies for the division by using technology or novel approaches to drive business value in new ways.
• Ability to model and tune complex game economy systems with multiple currencies, progression systems, sinks and faucets.
• Analyze the many facets of the game economy, player engagement and monetization data at a macro and micro level.
• Keep up to date with market trends and do proactive analysis of economy tuning in relevant competitive products.

Desired Skills and Experience: 

• 7+ years of game design or product management experience with 5+ years focus on economy design.
• Collaborative and excels in communicating with economy designers, product managers, analysts and executives.
• Ability to balance multiple projects in parallel while delivering high quality work.
• Ability to model and simulate planned changes, anticipating downstream effects, and making adjustments prior to releasing changes.
• Detail-oriented and capable of providing specific solutions at each step of the process.
• Ideally loves playing mobile and/or casino games.
• Advanced understanding of Excel, SQL and/or Python.
