About the team
As a Senior Manager, Public Policy at Zillow, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing Zillow's public policy initiatives on the Government Relations Team. Your responsibilities will include anticipating policy challenges, unlocking opportunities for innovation, and influencing key policy conversations. You will develop and implement public policy strategies that align with Zillow's business objectives, requiring a deep understanding of policy developments at various governmental levels and the ability to engage effectively with policymakers, industry groups, and other stakeholders.
About the role
- Identify emerging policy trends, shape proactive strategies, and drive external engagement.
- Develop and implement public policy strategies that support Zillow's business objectives and policy goals.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments at the local, state, and federal levels.
- Serve as a thought partner across public policy, legal, product, and communications teams-connecting the dots between market trends, policy movements, and business strategy.
- Lead proactive policy positioning around new product categories, innovations, or market-shaping moments.
- Represent the company in key external forums including policymaker meetings, trade associations, coalitions, think tanks, and policy roundtables.
- Act as a policy translator-helping internal teams understand evolving risks and opportunities, and aligning efforts to advance clear and consistent external positioning.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $148,600.00 - $237,400.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Who you are
- A self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven experience in public policy, government relations, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
- Experience in technology, finance or housing policy is a plus.
- Ability to quickly learn new issues impacting the business, understand and assess public and political opinion, and build successful strategies to address them.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of political dynamics and legislative processes with the ability to connect political realities and business objectives.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing staff members.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in developing and executing public policy strategies.
- Strong analytical skills to monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory developments.
- Deep understanding of legislative and regulatory landscapes.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive, forward-looking approach-able to "see around corners" and identify opportunities before they surface.
- Exceptional communicator with the ability to distill complexity into clarity for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in cross-functional environments, especially working with legal and product leaders, is strongly preferred.
