This role will be part of the Hearsay team, now an integral part of Yext.
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Budapest Engineering Team and help build the scalable, high-performance systems behind digital engagement for enterprise brands worldwide.
In this full-stack role, you’ll use technologies like Python, Kotlin, and React to design, build, and maintain secure, reliable services. You’ll take ownership of complex projects from design to deployment, collaborating with experienced engineers to shape architecture, boost performance, and streamline development workflows.
You’ll play a hands-on role in shaping the direction of our platform, implementing engineering best practices, and mentoring others through code reviews and technical discussions. We value clean, testable code; scalable systems; and a continuous improvement mindset toward both technology and team collaboration.
This is a hybrid position with the flexibility to work from home and the expectation to be on-site at least one day per week. We know life doesn’t always fit a schedule, so we make adjustments based on project and team needs.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement scalable, high-performing solutions that meet business and user needs
- Own end-to-end technical projects, from architecture to implementation, testing, and delivery
- Debug, review, and refine code, proactively resolving issues and ensuring long-term maintainability
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning, feedback, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with product and engineering leads to shape priorities, contribute to roadmap planning, and drive architectural decisions
- Continuously improve team processes and development practices to boost efficiency, quality, and team health
What You Have
- 6+ years of full-stack software development experience, building business-critical applications across back-end and front-end technologies
- Strong grasp of object-oriented principles (OOP) and design patterns, with 5+ years of experience using Python, Java, C++, or C#; our team uses Python and Kotlin
- Proficient in modern front-end frameworks such as React, Backbone, or Underscore, with a solid foundation in HTML, CSS, and core web technologies
- Extensive experience in relational database management, including schema design, query optimization, data migrations, and high availability & disaster recovery strategies, or an equivalent level of experience with NoSQL databases and NoSQL query languages
- Skilled in cloud infrastructure (IaaS and PaaS), with a track record of building and explaining scalable, cloud-based systems
- Commitment to clean, maintainable, and well-tested code (ideally with Jest)
- Curious and quick to learn; excited to explore new tools, frameworks, and technologies
- Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset
- Fluent in English and Hungarian, with excellent communication skills
