The ideal candidate is a passionate technologist with strong experience in compute, storage, networking, databases, monitoring, backups/recovery, automation frameworks, and end user technologies in the cloud arena.

As a valued member of the team, the cloud engineer's primary objective is to design, install, and maintain the cloud infrastructure services provided to IT development and operation teams within World Wide Technology. The team member should possess strong technical and communication skills to partner with IT teams to develop, implement, and optimize, and maintain cloud-based solutions. The ideal candidate must have the ability and motivation to expand their technical knowledge and skills through a combination of formal training, self-directed training, and on-the-job experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design & support public cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform & Oracle Cloud
  • Work with product engineering & development teams, enabling them to optimize applications for cloud infrastructure.
  • Listen to user feedback to propose new solutions and iterative improvements.
  • Work within the overlap of several areas of focus: observability, security, deployment pipelines, cloud infrastructure and containerization.
  • Promote the use of modern automation around access management and Infrastructure-as-code.
  • Document the policies and procedures to support the cloud environments and participate in the design and ongoing refinement of procedures and policies.
  • Provide typical systems administration support (OS, server hardware & Tier 2/3 ticket support)
  • Perform routine service checks and preventative maintenance.
  • Provide on-call support per the published schedule.
  • Provide excellent customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of public cloud experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with designing and implementing scalable cloud solutions that align with business requirements, leveraging knowledge of Azure services, architectures, and best practices.
  • Experience developing automation scripts, templates, and tools using IaC principles, such as Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, PowerShell, or other automation frameworks.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for cloud resources to ensure efficient and reliable deployment of applications and infrastructure.
  • Manage and monitor cloud resources, identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize resource utilization through capacity planning, performance tuning and cost optimization.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues related to Azure infrastructure, services, and deployments.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, guidelines, and knowledge base articles to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, translating technical concepts to nontechnical audiences
  • Team-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and growth mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Strong understanding of on-premises networking, storage, and compute as it relates to cloud resources
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Container orchestration
  • Cloud certifications - Azure, GCP, AWS
  • Familiarity with backup & recovery technologies and concepts
  • Experience with observability tools in terms of logging, monitoring, and tracing.
