ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Wind River Systems is building Wind River Studio for Operators, delivering an integrated cloud platform, unifying infrastructure, orchestration, and analytics capabilities so operators can deploy and manage their intelligent 5G edge networks globally. Wind River Systems is seeking an experienced, high-performing Senior Engineer Software Engineer developing distributed cloud-based orchestration and automation platform solution for the intelligent edge.
The orchestration capabilities in Wind River Studio give you a single pane of glass to manage and automate application deployment in a large-scale distributed environment. Pick the applications you need from an app catalog, deploy them to a carrier-grade cloud platform, and orchestrate the resources needed for the applications — simply, intuitively, and logically. Scale from a handful of nodes to thousands of nodes in a geographically dispersed distributed environment.

- Develop software for a complete cloud infrastructure software stack
- Design and implement high-quality code based on Kubernetes, containerized applications, and distributed cloud systems
- Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices to ensure robust and maintainable code
- Work with open-source technologies including Kubernetes, OpenStack, KubeVirt, Helm, Ansible, Puppet, and OSTree
- Contribute to platform upgrade features and CI/CD pipelines
- Stay current with OpenStack advancements and integrate them into the platform
- Participate in agile development processes, with the ability to shift between development, testing, and automation roles as needed
- Investigate and resolve issues during product verification and customer integration
- Use Linux and shell scripting for day-to-day development and operations
- Work with open-source software responsibly, including understanding licensing models and managing CVEs
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field
- 3+ years of professional software development experience
- 2+ years of programming experience with Python
- Experience with Linux systems and shell scripting
- Exposure to Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker
- Experience building infrastructure software for scalable, distributed systems
- Deep understanding of OpenStack architecture (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Keystone)
- Track record of delivering mission-critical, 24x7 production systems
- Contributions to OpenStack or other open-source communities
- Familiarity with RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, YAML, and TOSCA
- Experience managing open-source licensing and CVE remediation
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills
