We are seeking a full time Paralegal to join our Australian tax practice based in the Melbourne office.

Since our arrival in Australia in 2016 our Australian practice has grown to 34+ partners and 80+ lawyers across Sydney and Melbourne. Our teams work with clients in every state of Australia, across the Asia-Pacific region and around the globe on all aspects of the energy, infrastructure, power (including renewable energy) mining & metals sectors, and on high-profile public market and private equity M&A transactions.

Our Australia Tax team provides tax advice and dispute resolution services to a range of clients working across a number of industries including finance, infrastructure, mining and energy. As a Paralegal you will primarily be responsible for supporting the entire team on a range of administrative and research tasks, ensuring the team effectively delivers to our clients.

About the Role

You will provide direct support to individual practitioners to assist them with tax advisory and disputes legal work including:
  • conducting legal research;
  • administrative support including proof reading, checking for consistency within and across agreements and cross-reference checks;
  • assisting with court documents for litigation processes.
Assist with areas of practice development as and when required including:
  • maintaining databases of client contacts;
  • assistance with collating billing financial information;
  • conduct research on legal developments or new areas of law relevant to the Group; and
  • assist in the maintenance of practice notes and standard forms.

Experience and attributes required
  • Previous experience (5+ years) in an EA/PA or similar administrative role is required
  • A genuine interest in tax and supporting a tax practice
  • Previous law firm experience is useful, but not essential
  • High professional standards

  • Hardworking, resilient, and committed team player
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels
  • Pragmatic, self-motivated, flexible and able to work both in team and individually as required
  • Willingness to take on additional tasks as and when required
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ideally experience of iManage/document management systems

  • The position is based in Melbourne
