Position Summary

This position will support the International Trade Practice by collecting, organizing, and analyzing large amounts of economic and accounting data. The primary responsibilities will be participating on teams of attorneys and other professionals to represent clients in trade litigation (antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings) conducted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. International Trade Commission, and foreign governments. Assignments can also include proceedings relating to intellectual property infringement, collection of duties by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. Treasury disclosures. The analyst will interact directly with international clients and travel to their locations.

Duties and Accountabilities 1
  • Assist in statistical analysis of data related to international trade (sales and cost accounting data of corporations, import statistics , etc.).
  • Provide analytical and strategic input for preparing and verifying antidumping and countervailing duty questionnaires.
  • Perform SAS programming and calculations related to cases.
  • Interact with a variety of software and web-based tools, including internally hosted products (e.g. share-point, hi-q, e-discovery platforms), domestic or foreign government based websites, and client hosted data storage/collection.
  • Collaborate in teams along with attorneys, fellow analysts, and economists in White & Case's offices in Washington D.C., Europe and Asia.

Qualifications
  • Four year college degree with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.5.
  • Advanced degree in math, economics, statistics, computer science, or social sciences with quantitative analysis a plus.
  • At least 3-5 years relevant work experience.
  • Background in accounting and familiarity working with SAP accounting modules a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Excel and Access.
  • Strong familiarity with advanced data manipulation functions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present significant amounts of information.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A drive for identifying the most effective and accurate reporting solutions.
  • Programming experience preferred (VB, SAS, R, etc.).
  • Proficient writing skills.
  • Interest in working with international clients with diverse data processing capabilities.
  • Willingness and ability to work long hours, as needed.
  • Foreign language skills a plus (particularly proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese).
