Position Summary



Working within the EMEA M&A Practice, this role supports the EMEA Private Equity Practice Group developing and implementing strategic and business development initiatives aimed at building client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, winning new work and positioning and profiling the Firm as a leading Private Equity group globally.

Our global Private Equity business has grown significantly over recent years. We are seeking a dynamic, results-focused business development professional to help and advise our partners on continuing our exciting growth and development. The successful candidate will work closely with and report to the Senior Business Development Manager, Private Equity to support our strategic and business development initiatives.

The primary function of this role is to help the Private Equity Practice fulfil its strategic and very demanding growth objectives through the implementation of a range of strategic and business development initiatives with a primary focus to:
  • support the strategic planning and implementation processes at the EMEA level, including ensuring effective initiatives and co-ordination across related practice and industry business plans;
  • improve our business generation from our Private Equity clients, including relationship management of Private Equity key and priority clients; maximising opportunities which arise through the interplay of our cross-practice, cross-office group approach; and
  • to deliver marketing and business opportunities with existing and new clients; enhancing the image and reputation of the group; and proactively ensuring information flows within the group and from the group to the wider Firm.

Although the role is based in London, it includes a significant international dimension, ensuring that business development activities and initiatives are developed and coordinated across our global network.

Responsibilities
  • Work with Private Equity partners and associates, BD Directors and global business development teams to help drive the implementation and development of the EMEA PE business plan and identified key initiatives;
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of the practice's Key & Priority Clients and relationship management of 1-2 Firm Key Clients and EMEA priority client program;
  • Take a lead business development role in driving all marketing and business development initiatives for London and the wider EMEA region identified as a priority;
  • Coordinate a program of tracking progress and reporting on the group's clients working with the partners and business development teams;
  • Work with the global business development team and the central marketing team in relation to communications and thought leadership across the group including creating a targeted strategy to raise the profile of the group;
  • Sharing information and building relationships with relevant marketing and business development colleagues throughout the Firm's network to ensure an integrated offering throughout EMEA;
  • Staying on point with current and emerging issues / trends that impact, or may impact, the Private Equity market and constantly adapting approach to these market conditions;
  • Assist with general marketing infrastructure development and maintenance across the major regions to ensure consistency with the group's messaging - internally and externally;
  • Ensuring effective use of all communication channels for the group and Firm generally, e.g. website, e-bulletins, mailing lists, media/relations, sponsorship, conferences, research and industry networks; and
  • Providing day-to-day business development and marketing support to the group practice in a timely and effective manner.

Education & Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, preferably in a relevant subject;
  • Relevant marketing qualification (e.g. CIM) is desirable but not essential.

Essential job requirements
  • Approximately 3-5 years' relevant business development/communications experience,
    preferably at manager-level, within a law firm or professional services organisation.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of working within the private equity Industry (either in a legal or business development capacity) is preferable and an advantage;
  • Commercially minded, desire for a high level of business acumen with an overriding client-focused approach;
  • Team player - this is a high performing team with a strong team ethos;
  • Strong attention to detail which should be balanced by a big picture vision;
  • A proven ability to work to tight deadlines, juggle multiple projects and deliver under pressure;
  • Passion for working in an international environment and within a global team;
  • Pragmatic, self-motivated, flexible and able to work both in a team and individually as required
  • Excellent communicator - both orally and in writing - with a diplomatic approach;
  • Impactful and assertive with the ability to operate successfully at all levels;
  • Good systems and database skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM applications ;
  • Creative mindset, brings new ideas to the table; and
  • Seasoned project manager with well-developed planning and organisation skills.

Location & Reporting
  • This role is based in our London office.
  • Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a current requirement for 3 days in the office per week.
