About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Systems Architect Senior Manager who is responsible for Solution Architecture and Governance across the Core Infrastructure Services and Technology Management Domains which include Products such as Data Hosting, Middleware, Compute, Cloud, Storage, Data Center, IT Service Management (ITSM), Observability, IT Operations Automation, and Platform Management strategies.

The CTO Architecture team focuses on driving product direction through the creation of solution architectures and archetypes. This role is accountable for application portfolio management and lifecycle management of CTO applications as well as leading cross functional teams in creating business value solutions and influencing executives as well as engineers. This role will work in a challenging, fast paced, and highly technical environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead architecture team to deliver enterprise priorities
  • Drive strategic alignment across business and technology
  • Develop roadmaps and improve architecture practices
  • Ensure software quality, security, and scalability
  • Manage risk, resources, and financial planning
  • Guide talent strategy and team development
  • Collaborate across all levels and external partners
  • Champion enterprise technology strategy
  • Acts in a strategic role across assigned Core Infrastructure Services and Technology Management domains, describing the current state and defining the target state and transition strategy for the organizations processes, and technology, and guiding or leading initiatives to achieve these transitions
  • Acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) around compute, storage, data center, data hosting, middleware, it service management, observability, automation, and platform management
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and advancements within existing technologies
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to Architects and engineers to grow architecture talent
  • Ability to visualize and plan for outcomes in the future and sustain work in achieving the outcomes. Involves an ability to support short-term trade-offs to achieve longer term gain
  • Lead strategic planning and architectural planning for infrastructure technologies
  • Provide expertise and leadership in selection and management of vendors to provide low-cost, high efficiency solutions, which are size-appropriate for the current environment while being able to expand as the organization grows
  • Provide leadership in the development of IT policies and operational procedures that affect the reliability of the IT infrastructure
  • Maintain and enhance professional expertise and skills through participation in appropriate educational and training seminars related to Information Technology
  • Support OpEx planning and execution with the Leader of infrastructure, heavily focused on building financial models in partnership with Finance
  • Responsible for budgets within his/her/their department and resource planning to meet project objectives

  • 6+ years of technology architecture and engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience
  • 6+ years of experience architecting hybrid cloud, data center design and modernizing technology infrastructure landscape.
  • 6+ years of experience with strategic planning in technology
  • 3+ years of experience researching new technologies, performing proof-of-concepts, and recommending solutions.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Well versed in Virtualization, Public/Private Cloud, Operating System, Software Defined Storage, Containerization, Configuration/Drift Management, Middleware, Observability and Infrastructure as code
  • Experience with one or more of Azure, Google and AWS Cloud Services - leading design and architecture
  • Demonstrable experience in Data Center migration and related tooling.
  • Cloud specific certifications, e.g. AWS Solution Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect
  • Hands on knowledge to support automated infrastructure instantiation of profiles such as VMware, PowerFlex, Nutanix
  • Deep experience with VMware products including ESXi, NSX-T, vRA, vROPS, vCenter, Redhat/Windows Server, Satellite, SCCM, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid, OpenShift Enterprise, NetApp and PowerFlex Storage
  • Familiar and hands-on experience with infrastructure as code via CI/CD and automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Packer
  • Familiar with relational and non-relational DB hosting platforms such as Mongo DB, Oracle Exadata, Microsoft SQL Server
  • Familiar with messaging platforms such as IBM MQ and Kafka
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working in an agile, product-oriented structure
  • Ability to interact with all levels with the organization
  • Strong comprehension within the compute, network, and storage technology domains
