About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Specialty Systems Operations Engineer to join our Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT) team. To be successful, you will need to be a focused, self-motivated technologist who prioritizes stability of the application and infrastructure above all else. This position will be directly supporting applications making Real Time Payments for our global customers.
In this role, you will:
- Support a suite of applications across varying technologies
- Partner with cross-organizational teams to ensure end-to-end platform engineering capabilities are implemented, ensuring resilience, high performance, and high availability of the applications
- Responsible for production deployments, ensuring governance and controls and act as a gatekeeper for any production environment changes
- Provide cross-functional and cross-organizational coordination on root cause analysis for any production issues
- Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Conduct incident management and coordinate/implement solutions to prevent customer impact
- Inform leadership on ongoing issues through formal communications in alignment with ITIL best practices
- Learn new tools and concepts in platform engineering space to implement automation, building and testing CI/CD pipelines, Ansible, Prometheus, and Cloud engineering concepts etc
- Contribute to increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks

- 4+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of experience troubleshooting environments across the entire architecture (i.e., applications to infrastructure) experience
- 2+ years of SQL, Oracle SQL or a combination of both experience
- 2+ years of Linux experience
- Self-disciplined, driven, curious, and motivated
- Experience using Service Now for incident, change, and problem management
- 2+ years of developing or supporting IT Service Management solutions experience
- Extremely strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Understanding of Cloud native technologies and concepts
- Ability to identify root-cause issues/improvement opportunities, and design approaches
- Knowledge and understanding of complex enterprise systems and frameworks including frontends, middleware, services layer, database, backend, and downstream interfaces
- Dedicated: Ability to work extra hours/overtime as and when needed
- Rotational on-call and weekend support will be required
- Quality communicator: Ability to communicate (written/oral) with teams and leadership to clearly explain issues and status updates in plain language
