Senior Public Policy Lead - Financial Crimes & Corporate Responsibility

About this role:

This newly established role will lead the bank's public policy initiatives related to financial crimes-including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) obligations-as well as support broader efforts in corporate responsibility. The position will develop and execute advocacy strategies that promote effective, risk-based frameworks aligned with evolving regulatory expectations. This role involves direct engagement with Executive Branch agencies, legislators, and industry stakeholders to advance policies that enhance financial system integrity. This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is based at 1700 K Street NW in Washington, DC. The Wells Fargo job profile is Senior Lead Government Relations Specialist.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on financial crimes and corporate responsibility-related policy and regulatory developments
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies that support scalable, risk-based frameworks
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory trends, assessing their impact on the business
  • Prepare policy briefs, comment letters, and position statements in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with key regulatory bodies and stakeholders, including the Department of the Treasury, Department of Labor, FinCEN, Federal Banking Regulators, as well as select international regulatory bodies
  • Represent the bank in trade associations, coalitions, and working groups
  • Advocate for public policy priorities that balance regulatory effectiveness with operational feasibility
  • Collaborate with line of business, compliance, risk, and legal stakeholders to ensure policy positions are aligned with internal practices and controls
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Government Relations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working within a government agency on financial crimes or corporate responsibility-related policy issues
  • Experience developing advocacy strategies that promote effective, risk-based frameworks
  • Experience engaging with U.S. regulatory agencies on public policy matters
  • Experience drafting policy briefs, comment letters, and position statements
  • Experience working with trade associations or coalitions on financial regulatory issues
  • Experience advising senior leaders on policy developments and regulatory changes
  • Experience translating complex regulatory frameworks into actionable advocacy strategies
Office Location & Pay Range:
  • 1700 K Street, NW - Washington, DC ($191,000 to $305,000)
