About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Counsel in the Consumer Lending Litigation Section of the Risk, Intellectual Property, and Litigation Division. This is a mid-level attorney role that will manage a large volume of moderate risk litigation for the Cards, Merchant Services, Retail Services and the Personal Lines & Loans businesses.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage moderately complex claims and litigation
  • Provide legal advice and representation of the Company in moderate risk litigation, negotiations, settlement discussions, and claims related legal issues
  • Review and analyze moderately complex challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
  • Provide guidance to internal clients on legal matters to assist with legal risk assessment, planning and policy decisions, claims against the Company, probability of loss, and develop cost-effective risk mitigation strategies
  • Draft and review complex legal documents prepared by outside counsel
  • Identify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions, and make recommendations for issue resolution
  • Collaborate with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Lead or participate in moderately complex initiatives and deliverables and contribute to large-scale planning
  • Work directly with business clients and develop an in-depth understanding of business unit activities and products
Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States

  • Experience as a practicing attorney in private practice supporting financial services clients or in a financial services in-house legal department and/or financial regulatory agency.
  • Experience in consumer lending litigation, specifically related to credit cards, merchant services, retail services, personal lines and loans, mortgage / home lending.
  • Experience conducting research and providing counsel and guidance regarding complex legal issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective organizational, client management, and prioritization skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
