Principal Engineer - Workplace IM, Voice & Video

About this role:

The Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) group provides technology solutions and support for Risk, Audit, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Properties, and Stakeholder Relations business lines. In addition, EFT provides unique technology solutions and innovation for Wells Fargo Technology, Enterprise Shared Services, and Enterprise Data Management. This combined portfolio of applications and tools are continually engineered to meet the challenges of stability, security, scalability, and speed.

Within EFT we are seeking a Principal Engineer to bring deep expertise in Microsoft 365, MS Teams Voice, Zoom, and trader communication systems, and will collaborate with vendors, architects, and engineering leaders to deliver cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of our users.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
  • Design and implement resilient and compliant solutions for trader voice, fax, Zoom, and Teams Voice, ensuring high availability and regulatory alignment
  • Collaborate with vendors, architects, and engineering leaders to evaluate and integrate emerging technologies that enhance user experience and operational efficiency
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Lead complex, enterprise-wide technology initiatives and serve as a strategic advisor to leadership, influencing the development and implementation of innovative, scalable, and secure engineering solutions across multiple technology domains
  • Provide vision and direction for Video and Voice technologies including, but not limited to; compliant solutions for trader voice, fax, Zoom, and Teams Voice
  • Design, develop, and evaluate large-scale, enterprise-grade solutions that align with long-term business objectives, leveraging deep technical expertise and advanced analytical thinking
  • Establish and promote engineering standards and best practices across the organization, staying ahead of industry trends and advocating for innovations that enhance operational efficiency and competitive advantage
  • Collaborate with senior technology leaders, business stakeholders, and external partners-including Microsoft and other key vendors-to resolve complex technical challenges, influence product roadmaps, and ensure alignment with strategic goals
  • Mentor and lead engineering teams, manage cross-functional projects, and drive the roadmap for digital transformation initiatives that support identity-based access control, automation, and enterprise-wide adoption of modern technologies
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Partner with business leaders, IT teams, and external stakeholders to identify future technological needs and deliver scalable, secure, and user-centric solutions
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve digital workflows and information management practices, help drive building engineering practice and the implementation modern solution such as infrastructure as code
Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of experience in trader voice technologies and turret systems
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft 365, MS Teams (including enterprise voice), Zoom, and fax technologies
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud-based communication platforms and hybrid infrastructure
Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with executives, vendors, architects, and cross-functional teams
  • Experience designing and implementing resilient, redundant, and compliant communication solutions.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries
  • Familiarity with compliance and risk frameworks for communication technologies
  • Background in end-user computing or workplace technology environments
  • Experience as a lead or senior software engineer in a cloud-first enterprise
  • Experience engaging with senior executives and external vendors to drive strategic outcomes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot
  • Hands-on experience with Azure AD, Microsoft 365 Search, including Microsoft Graph API and search schema customization, and SharePoint -and OneDrive architecture, sync client troubleshooting, and compliance integration
  • Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries
  • Experience working with business teams to gather business requirements to create solutions.
  • Experience in Agile, Scrum and Jira
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives in a large enterprise environment including ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks along with work efforts simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
  • Ability to determine the most efficient and effective solution to address the problem at hand and use of a wide variety of business tools to meet user needs
  • Problem-solving, recommendation formulation, execution orientation, strong analytics capabilities, continuous improvement and risk management skills
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently with strong planning, prioritization, and follow-up skills in a structured environment with minimal supervision

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$159,000.00 - $305,000.00
