About this role:
The Principal Engineer - Network Security / Zero Trust Security is an individual contributor role in technology in the Innovation and Automation team within the Secure Network Services (SNS) organization. In a collaborative environment, the engineer will drive strategy, lead (participate in) technology selection, and be an integral part of a team executing bank's transition to Zero Trust.
The role will:
- Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
- Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
- Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
- Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
- Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

- 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 7+ years of network security engineering experience
- 5+ years of technical design experience
- 5+ years of network security design
- 5+ years of experience working in a large enterprise network organization
- 2+ years of public cloud designing network security component like virtual FW in Azure and Google
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of Zero Trust with the ability to understand business requirements and opportunities
- Demonstrate good understanding of each of the Zero Trust principles and technology
- Experience with one or more of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions from leading market vendors
- Experience with Internet Proxy solutions
- Experience with leading vendors firewall platforms
- Experience with network segmentation solutions like Illumio
- Experience with remote access solutions
- Knowledge and understanding of end-to-end network architecture and protocols
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent technical writing skills including for design and architecture
- Ability to research, design, implement, and test industry best practices
- Ability to define business requirements and align to technology direction
- Ability to align technology direction to business terminology
- Ability to translate complex technical needs into straightforward requests for information and collaboration, working with a wide range of people
- Ability to train and lead others
- Ability to present technical concepts to senior leaders
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
- Work from the office in a hybrid environment
