Lead Data Engineer - Reporting & Analytics
About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Engineer who will support applications that are used by Wells Fargo's 270,000+ employees, over 1 million external job seekers, and more than 4,000 HR professionals. This role will be responsible for acting as a lead in the Human Resources Data, Reporting & Analytics team.
The Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) group provides technology solutions and support for Risk, Audit, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Properties, and Stakeholder Relations business lines. In addition, EFT provides unique technology solutions and innovation for Wells Fargo Technology, Enterprise Shared Services, and Enterprise Data Management. This combined portfolio of applications and tools are continually engineered to meet the challenges of stability, security, scalability, and speed.
Human Resources Information Technology (HRIT) team provides technology support for team member focused applications and processes, including payroll, benefits, learning and recruiting.
In this role, you will:
- Act as the technical lead for reporting and analytics solutions in HRIT Data Engineering, including leading our work to implement and adopt Microsoft Fabric - including establish best practices for engineers on the team, leading the Fabric community of practice in HR & HRIT and mentoring other engineers.
- Collaborate heavily with our business partners in HR Data and Reporting to develop solutions to support business intelligence products, semantic models, ad-hoc analytics and data science initiatives.
- Be a collaborative and contributing member of the HRIT Data Engineering leadership team
- Lead complex initiatives with broad impact and act as key participant in large scale software planning for the Technology area
- Design, develop, and run tooling to discover problems in data and applications and report the issues to engineering and product leadership
- Review and analyze complex software enhancement initiatives for business, operational or technical improvements that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors
- Make decisions in complex and multi-faceted data engineering situations requiring understanding of software package options and programming language and compliance requirements that influence and lead Technology to meet deliverables and drive organizational change
- Strategically collaborate and consult with internal partners to resolve highly risky data engineering challenges
- 5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

- 2+ years of Microsoft Fabric experience
- 5+ years of data warehouse / large data store experience
- 5+ years of data-centric solution design
- 5+ years of experience with BI tools such as Tableau and Power BI
- Experience with Human Resources (HR) data
- Experience with AI, preferrable Microsoft Copilot and Github Copilot
- Experience with metadata and associated tooling, especially Microsoft Purview
- Willingness to work on-site at stated location on the job opening
- This position offers a hybrid work schedule
