Lead Compensation Consultant - Executive Compensation
About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Compensation Consultant to join our Total Rewards Executive Compensation Team. This highly visible and influential role will provide strategic consultation on executive compensation strategies to support business objectives and ensure market competitiveness. This position plays a key role in designing and managing executive compensation programs, advising the business on complex matters related to executive compensation, and partnering with stakeholders to successfully deliver executive compensation programs and processes, while ensuring alignment with governance and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Partner:
- Serve as a trusted advisor and key partner to senior HR Leadership, Legal, and Finance by fostering open communication, understanding stakeholder needs, and delivering value-added executive compensation support
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with cross functional teams, including HR, Finance, Legal, the Chief Operating Office, and Total Rewards Communities of Excellence to ensure alignment and consistency in executive compensation disclosures and practices
- Business Literacy and Analysis:
- Leverage business knowledge and acumen for executive compensation and Proxy analysis
- Assess business priorities and analyze executive compensation data and trends to deliver forward-thinking actionable recommendations to senior leadership that align pay strategies with organizational goals, talent needs and market dynamics in an executive-ready manner
- Execution:
- Support all aspects of executive compensation for the Operating Committee (OC), which requires Human Resources Committee (HRC) of the Board of Directors decisioning and approval, including the annual pay process for existing executives, and supporting key external new hires or internal promotions
- Plan and develop materials for the HRC on key updates and decisions such as incentive compensation pool funding and Performance Share Award (PSA) payout
- Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to inform executive compensation decisions and maintain competitiveness in alignment with business priorities
- Lead the drafting of narrative for the Compensation Discussion & Analysis (CD&A) of the annual Proxy statement, along with all required disclosures
- Lead the global off-cycle equity buyout process throughout the year
- Own policies such as Stock Ownership Policy, Buyout Methodology, and Notice Period and ensure alignment with market practices
- Own controls for the Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process to ensure strong governance and compliance with risk management standards
- Lead workstreams and manage readiness activities for key business changes for enterprise-wide new policy rollouts, process changes or new initiatives
- Ensure business-specific executive compensation practices comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards
- Assist with the preparation of Regulatory filings (Form 4, 8-K)
- 5+ years of Compensation experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise senior stakeholders and influence outcomes
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and evaluate data to make informed decisions about executive compensation structures and market competitiveness that align with business needs
- Strong executive presence and confidence in presenting to senior leadership
- Experience supporting line of business leaders with equity buyouts
- Understanding of SEC rules and regulations
- Familiarity with external market data sources and benchmarking methodologies
- Knowledge of executive compensation governance, compliance, and risk management practices
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Workday; experience with data insights and reporting tools.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment and navigate ambiguity with sound judgment and autonomy

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$119,000.00 - $206,000.00
