About the role:

Wells Fargo is seeking The Head of Payments Operations Risk and Controls in Global Operations within the Chief Operating Office. This is a new role that will focus on the build out of capabilities for Payment Operations to enhance our ability to efficiently and effectively manage common risks across Payments Operations and design and execute controls improvement.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Define target state operating model for this Wells Fargo level function and the strategy to execute it. Define the scope, objectives, stakeholders, interaction model, RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) outcomes and management routines to sustain for each governance item.
  • Strategy development and execution to centralize and optimize of all work to design and implement shared controls, support key testing of process and controls. Working with the Head of Control for Payments Operations and Risk Leaders to ensure the model can be reused across Wells Fargo
  • Ensure all first, second- and third-line partners are engaged representing applicable lines of business across the company. Anticipate and address role clarity issues across WF to ensure risks are identified and actioned in timely manner.
  • Provide oversight and inspection to ensure the health of operational controls, including talent management, operational risk management, control issues, ownership of remediation plans and responsibility decisions to balance risk, cost, and client experience as applicable to multiple issues in the operational day to day management.
  • Working with the Control organization to drive automation of all controls across Payments Operations
  • Oversee the execution of key processes and controls that extend across Payments Operations.
  • Prioritize work and align resources to contain and mitigate risks. Will drive continuous improvements and metrics driven approach to reduced risk.
  • Support Payments Governance initiatives and functions by developing a target state model and then the strategy to achieve that, working with each Wells Fargo line of business, each Global Operations leader and Technology leaders to ensure the many key tenants required by our key stakeholders are met.
  • Own the to be created new and enhanced RAU's to align all common controls in one place across PO (Access, Records management, etc)
  • Will develop and manage a streamlined set of routines to create, document and maintain the intellectual capital

Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of Business Execution, Implementation, or Strategic Planning experience, including Management or leadership experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience designing and implementing controls
  • 8+ years of Payments expertise with preferred general knowledge of compliance requirements for Wholesale Payments.
  • 8+ years' experience in operational excellence (DMAIC- Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) approach to problem solving and implementing continuous improvement for the Customer.
  • 5+ years' experience with exposure to senior management and ability to lead high-profile projects, manage financials and communicate with senior leaders and regulators on behalf of the firm.
  • 5+ years' experience with large scale Technology platforms
  • 5+ years' experience leading change management for a large financial services company or management consulting firm
  • Ability to translate strategy into actionable steps for execution and take a hands-on approach, working with key partners to ensure execution risks are identified and addressed.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with a focus on delivery management.
  • Strong multi-tasking capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills to get to the root of issues.
  • Ability to approach business problems with creativity and work in an inclusive and influential manner to empower the broader team.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or other applicable field.
