About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Data Science Consultant to support the Data Insights and Analytics (DIA) team within the Wells Fargo Home Lending (WFHL) group under Consumer Lending (CL) LOB. This role requires partnering with business stakeholders, designing data-driven solutions, and delivering actionable insights.


In this role, you will:

  • Participate in low to moderately complex initiatives by utilizing data-driven, advanced analytical and statistical techniques to support and drive strategic initiatives and business needs.
  • Review and analyze business, operational, technical assignments, or challenges that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives to convert data into meaningful insights and recommendations
  • Develop a strong understanding of the internal data structures to effectively deliver analytical solutions.
  • Help the team deliver solutions that are long-term, large-scale, and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical, and coordination of highly complex activities.
  • Collaborate and consult with functional colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders to drive recommendations and strategies based on data-driven analytical insights, trends, and patterns
  • Conduct low to moderately complex predictive analytics to build actionable insights and recommendations
  • Design and apply algorithms to mine large sets of structured and unstructured data from various sources
  • Ensure data completeness, accuracy, and uniformity through cleaning and validation
  • Support multiple complex projects, analyses, and application of techniques within the supporting businesses and across the enterprise

Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of data science experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science
  • 4+ years of overall experience
  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in extracting insights from large datasets, employing statistical methods, and utilizing tools like SAS or SQL for thorough analysis
  • Experience working in Teradata Vantage or Python
  • Ability to learn & upskill on various analytics tools & techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and inter-personal skills
  • Basic understanding of the US Home Lending process

Desired Qualifications:
  • Domain Knowledge: Understanding of home lending process
  • Data Visualization: Proficiency in creating compelling visualizations to communicate findings effectively, using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or other similar platforms
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using Excel

  • Data Exploration and Analysis: Dive into extensive datasets related to retail home lending processes, employing data analysis tools to extract meaningful insights, identify patterns, trends and anomalies
  • Assess the effectiveness of data sources and data-gathering techniques and improve data collection methods
  • Conduct research from which you'll develop prototypes and proof of concepts
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams
  • Use machine learning tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions
  • Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written to understand data needs and model results
