Capital Markets Middle Office Associate
About this role:
We are looking for a high-caliber candidate to join the Wells Fargo Securities Japan team for an analyst level role in the APAC CIB Markets Operations department based in Tokyo supporting the Wells Fargo Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) business in Tokyo. The business offers a suite of Fixed Income products of Credit, Rates, and Cross Asset solutions to corporate, government and institutional clients.
Products including, but not limited to US Treasuries, Cash Bonds, Mortgage-Backed Securities, Futures, Interest Rates Swaps, Credit Default Swaps and other OTC derivatives products.
This position is also responsible for covering both the APAC Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Markets Operations department and Commercial Banking (CB) Operations department based in Tokyo. (Double-hatted position) Therefore CB Ops process will be handled such as domestic JPY payment and vendor management.

In this role, you will:
Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB)
- Provide operational support for Japan Fixed Income Credit/Rates sales desks covering products including but not limited to Cash Bonds, US Treasuries, Mortgage-Backed Securities, Futures and OTC derivatives product from the point of Client Service role.
- Manage and build relationships with external clients, including email and phone query management, and act as the single point of contact for clients.
- Support client onboarding KYC and periodical review, working with local and regional KYC team
- Take initiative to improve operational efficiency and ensure processes are performed in a robust and controlled environment.

- Process clients JPY payments through FXYCS using BOJNet terminal, post accounting entry and report BOJ balance
- Monitor incoming & outgoing SWIFT messages
- Handle invoice for vendor payments, working with relevant regional teams
- 6+ months of Capital Markets industry experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English
- Team player, self-motivated, energetic, attention to details, escalation in a timely manner
- Strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
- Focus on tasks by pre-determined time
- Detail orientated with strong sense of control
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong analytical/problem solving skills
- Basic knowledge of Markets products (Fixed Income products of Credit, Rates, Foreign Exchange, Collateral) and Settlement process (SWIFT MT103&MT202, JPY Clearing)
- Relevant client onboarding and KYC experience is an advantage
