About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking talented young professionals to join the 2026 Public Affairs Internship Program. Internship opportunities will align with work within one of the three teams within Public Affairs: Brand Management and Sponsorships, Communications and Government Relations and Public Policy. Public Affairs Internship Program is designed to expose participants to an array of opportunities within Public Affairs where they can develop professional expertise in building trust, brand reputation, and positive business results for a multinational financial services company.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain experience and develop industry best practices by supporting business function priorities. Through this program, participants will take on day-to-day responsibilities, expand their network, and grow their portfolio.
Individuals may be placed in one of the following teams:
- Brand Management & Sponsorships is responsible for protecting, promoting and evolving the Wells Fargo brand.
- This team is seeking an intern who acts as a historian to join the Wells Fargo heritage team. This internship offers hands-on experience in historical research, documentation, and storytelling.
- Communications & Integrated Marketing delivers strategic counsel and engaging content to build brand favorability while protecting and enhancing Wells Fargo's reputation and culture.
- This team is seeking an intern to support our Integrated Communications, Marketing and Events team. This internship offers hands-on experience in content creation, campaign execution, analytics, and stakeholder engagement.
- Government Relations & Public Policy is responsible for developing and executing strategies that advance company policy and regulatory priorities with multiple stakeholders.
- This team is seeking an intern to support our GRPP team. This internship offers hands-on experience in legislative tracking, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy campaign support. It is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Political Science, Public Policy, Government, or related fields.
Over the course of 10 weeks, you can expect the following:
- On-the-job experience: Working independently as well as part of a high-performing team while having an end-to-end ownership of a distinct deliverable that has a direct impact on business and/or enterprise.
- Professional support: You will be reporting to the Public Affairs Program Manager who also serves as the Development Officer, who's responsibility will be to help you navigate the company and connect you with business leaders, support you with professional develop needs and answer day-to-day questions. Additionally, a senior manager will also be assigned to you that will facilitate work tasks and help you navigate through assignment challenges, and give you feedback throughout the course of the summer.
- A speaker series (virtual and/or in-person): Wells Fargo's top leaders provide insight into how to make the most of your summer experience, share their career paths, tips, and advice, while also sharing trends in the financial and functional spaces they serve.
- Organization networking activities: We promote community involvement and networking with other summer interns and full-time analysts. You will have the opportunity to create lasting professional relationships, build your network, and take advantage of a diverse and rapidly growing workforce.
- Internship Duration: 10 Weeks (June-August 2026)

In this role you will: Work closely with Wells Fargo's colleagues to provide strategic advice, subject matter expertise, and innovative solutions to Wells Fargo businesses. As a Public Affairs Intern, depending on function assigned, you will be expected to:
- Participate in the development, design, and execution of business priorities
- Identify, gather, and analyze data and develop initial insights that inform strategic recommendations
- Provide production support and/or serve as a liaison to business partners
- Develop presentations and other documents for management and senior leaders independently and in partnership with other team members
- Evaluate strategic options and develop recommendations for feature enhancements and process efficiencies
- Partner and collaborate with colleagues across the Public Affairs organization
- Build new partner relationships while seeking feedback, creating alignment, and proactively addressing risks
- Build business acumen while strengthening your skills
- Be visible, present and actively engaged in Public Affairs Employee Engagement Initiatives
- Adhere to hybrid in-office attendance policy
- Energetic self-starter who proactively takes initiative, remains curious and has a genuine interest in learning and growth
- A great writer with the ability to synthesize information
- Strategic, "outside the box" thinking and the ability and interest to ramp up on unfamiliar topic quickly and effectively
- Proactive, intellectually curious with the ability to take on an elevated level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
- Attention to detail and ability to navigate ambiguity
- 6+ months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Must be currently pursuing a bachelor's degree with an expected graduation between December 2026- May/June 2027
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills
- Involvement in extracurricular enrichment activities through one or more of the following: volunteerism, student organization involvement, study abroad program(s), leadership position(s), non-profit involvement
- Demonstrated knowledge, interest and/or experience in financial services, strategy, and fintech , analytical skills and interest in identifying, collecting, and strategically analyzing information and data, helping drive insights and interest in developing strategic recommendations
